After a few minutes i realized they were telling me drivers were bad and would take 2 hours to repair i disconnected and changed every password I have. I thought I was on the Garmin site. Too Late for all I know they infected my computer.
It was the first result in Google Search. Obviously, I search for Garmin Express. The software was no longer on the site. I proceeded to "chat" with the support section who then referred me to a phone call. I tried to download the update from the website given. The site then told me that Garmin has locked my device because the drivers were too old. At witch point I needed to call "sam back. He then took control of my computer (fortunately I got wise quick and nothing damaging happened) and tried to get me to spend several hundred dollars on drivers. I did not. It would be cheaper to buy a new device! I disconnected everything, shut down my wifi, scanned my computer, and uninstalled everything he had me do. Again, no damage or anything. I found the Official garmin software and am in the process of updating, FREE!
When doing a search for update on our two Garmin GPS we found their add for free update. The east Indian man named Sam said that it was $60 for the Canadian version. Than it was that we had 7 outdated drivers and new software was needed. Before long it was $350.For some reason there was a problem with the charge going through and they wanted another $60 that they would charge and refund within 24 hours.
We reported it to our credit card company to deny the charges. We got suckered in. We can't find any information on amazine service that appeared on our caller I'd. We have no address for them or Agape Inc aka Agape online store. Beware of this. Go directly to Garmin and check that your on their site. Updates are free. Use your Garmin Express when updating.
Same thing happened to me. I thought I was dealing with Garmin (the websites were almost identical) and it was only after. They promised to charge me only the original amount agreed and refund the difference -- never did. I gave up on getting the money back. The other day I got a call telling me they were going to refund my money (they had all the details). I was stupid and allowed access to my computer. During the process, my brain kicked in and I realized it was a scam (they deposit more money and want you to give the difference or they try and take money out of your bank). I'm now trying to warn people as well. I believe the original company closed shop and started a new one and is now using the information from the GPS to contact people under the "refund scam".
