Around 1993 Gorell Enterprises started manufacturing replacement windows in Indiana, PA. The same family (Gorell) that owned Gorell Enterprises had previously been in the window business as Season-All. Season-All had been in business since 1946? mostly manufacturing Storm Windows and Doors.
Our family business was a Gorell dealer (and previously Season-All) and as such we sold and installed thousands (yes thousands) of Gorell Replacement windows sold mostly on the strenghth of the 50 year unconditional replacement warranty.
In February 2012 Gorell suddenly closed and was in bankruptcy. We were shortly notified that another company had aquired the manufacturing equipment and name and was moving it all to Ohio, and they WOULD honor all existing Gorell warranties. Needless to say this did not happen.
Myself and my customers have been left with fogged up windows that have the seal broken. The new company Softlite/Gorell will manufacture a replacement sash but you will have to pay full cost plus shipping.
The Gorell warranty is not worth the paper it is written on! These companies that sell and issue products with long warranties should be made to set back funding for each product sold to cover he repair or replacement if the company goes under.
