Dr. Paul Smith was recommended by my fiance's oncologist, insurance was good, he came highly recommended. We got there an hour early as instructed, then when the surgeon came out into the hallway and asked for 4 needles, myself and my fiance knew something was wrong. An hour later we had our consult and he told my fiance (who after a month of tests, MRIs, cat scans, blood work, the run around) who was scheduled for surgery that he was refusing to treat her. It didn't matter how.much pain and for his long she has had it Take IB proven, he said. That is a serious no no for patients with GI issues (once again he didn't review my finances file) Then for theatrical purpose felt the area for a rupture and said, "I'm not touching you." You have a history of surgeries, past smoking and no "'definitive evidence of a problem." Every excuse in the book to get us out the door. Even when she screamed in pain and jumped up on the exam table. I asked him, "so doc, what do we do now?" His response at first was "i dont know" then he recommended a doctor in a different county who he conveniently couldn't remember the doctors name. My fiance was told by Moffitt Cancer surgery was today, now we are being pushed off to an unknown doctor in Bradenton, even then she has to deal with excruciating pain (which he did nothing about, in addition to not reviewing current medications) do who knows how long. Ridiculous, I felt like I knew more than he and he was scared or didn't see a profit.
The best part is that I have it recorded and so does the doctor. There is something called the hippocratic oath, and I feel this man who calls himself a plastic surgeon or even medical doctor is inhumane has broken that oath. What do we do, go to the ER and get treatment there? Or worse yet, if a 10 year old implant ruptures (if he would have looked at the images he would have seen the lump and/or rupture), he (Dr. Paul Smith M.D. of Moffitt Cancer ?) may have a bigger problem. Do your beloved family member or God forbid, yourself a favor and save yourself the false sense of security with Dr. Paul Smith and Moffitt Cancer, research a humane organization, not a money mill, or a trial and error student surgeon. I think we may fly to Canada. More humane up there.
