Goldmark Auto in Sarasota, FL tried to sell me a vehicle with Odometer Rollback issues. I gave them a $2500 deposit for a vehicle (that should have been my first clue, when they asked for such an outrageous deposit) and then I purchased the CarFax where I discovered obvious rollback problems, not to mention 2 accidents that the vehicle was in.
When Goldmark was confronted with the CarFax (which, by the way, CarFax may have omissions, but they do not add information to throw people off), they said, "Car Fax is wrong. They are wrong a lot of the time." Goldmark refused to acknowledge the report. The odometer rollback was recorded by 2 different entities, at 2 different times, which rules out a clerical error. It was also obvious, throughout the CarFax that the oil changes were done very close together (as close as after only 3 miles on the road), which is another indication that the odometer was continually being rolled back.
I did not want to be a part of odometer fraud (even though Goldmark was not the one who actually did the roll back, I didn't want to be involved no matter who did the actual rollback), as it is illegal in Florida and elsewhere. Instead of trying to sell me another vehicle or offering to return my deposit, they hounded me and verbally bullied me with continual phone calls to get me to buy this vehicle. They refuse to refund my deposit, even on these grounds.
On top of this, the Bill of Sale they gave me had the same exact mileage as when they bought it at a sale 2 and 1/2 months ago - on the other side of the state. When I confronted one of the managers about it, he conceded that they put the wrong mileage on my contract, which absolutely negates the contract.
The salesman said that it is impossible to roll back a digital odometer. I once watched a video as an individual turned back a digital odometer right before my eyes. This is one of the 'untruths" told to me by this company.
The latest story from Goldmark is that they contacted CarFax and had CarFax"fix" their information, and now they have a new CarFax. Hmmmmm. Goldmar has no regard for their customers' happiness or satisfaction. How they stayed in business this long, I will never know.
Beware of Goldmark Auto in Sarasota, and avoid them like the plague! After researching on-line, I see that others who have purchased vehicles from Goldmark experienced the same practices from their staff. I dealt with 2 managers and 1 salesman. They are all the same. Word to the wise... Steer clear!
