Golden Valley Lending, Inc. Reviews
I originally “qualified” for $800 as a payday loan but I only needed $300. After all the fees the total Loan amount came out to $390, which was 30% on the dollar and they were going to auto-debit minimum payments of $105.00 until it was paid off—This part I was fine with. What I’m not fine with is after the 1st payment my principal balance only went down to $370.50 and now they are ready to debit my account again and again until I can have the funds to pay it in full. I need answers on how they charge insane interest when the balance is only going down???
After doing my homework and learning that this company is being investigated by the federal government ever since April, I am quite unhappy that I fell into their trap. Yes, trap because there is nothing more deceptive than this company and companies like it. According to a legal article about this company that while, they claim to be in CA, all their operations are in KS.
Also, they are not legally licensed to to business in my state. I checked my state's business directory. They are not there. Also, interestingly enough, they are listed as a dissolved company in the state of CA business directory and have been since 2011). Sounds suspicious to me.
I have entered into a Debt Management plan (as of the end of August) and I let them know this here and via their website. I also filed a complaint with the CFPB and they have still tried calling my phone number (which is blocked by a call blocking program) and now I've been getting text messages.
There is a thin line between good business and harassment. This borders on the harassment. They are friendly when you initially speak with them but if you do not play their way, they get nasty. When I told them I had gone into a repayment plan, they wanted a notarized document from me which I feel is a little excessive. I have done payment plans with other companies before and I have never been asked for such paperwork.
I would advise others to avoid this company. Below is a link to one of the more current articles against this company. cfpbjournal.presspublisher.us/issue/cfpb-journal/article/more-cfpb-udaap-actions-against-online-lenders
