I wish there was a negative 3 button to show my dislike for this place. I signed up for this program because my Wife and I had lots of medical debt in collections. We thought it would be easier to just settle these debts by having Golden Financial reach out and come to a settlement amount. Our information was handled by a third party company called Clearing Solutions. We paid them 1/3 of the total under the terms that they would clear our debt. That was $1200. After 5 days I got a packet in the mail with envelopes and a call log. I gave them a call and they told me that they needed to invalidate my debts, so they needed to track every time a collection company called me. I was very confused. All I wanted to do was settle the large amounts of the accounts. After calling back I realized this program wasn't for us. They were valid debts and we just wanted to settle the amounts. I didn't feel comfortable disputing services we actually received just to clear the debt. So after 7 days I called and cancelled the program. The part that was the worst is what followed after. We had submitted a $1200 payment as our first of three installments. They told us it would take 30 days to review this cancellation to see if we would qualify for a refund. We had the program for 7 days and literally were only sent a packet of envelopes and a call log. We hadn't even been assigned a case manager yet. GO ahead and subtract $1.75 for paperwork. I was so livid, I asked to speak with a manager multiple times and Amanda insisted she was a manager and kept repeating herself "it takes 30 days to review if you will get a refund, keep an eye on your email" I called back every week to check the status. Still had not been reviewed. Finally on day 30 I had never received an email. I called Amanda and asked the status and she said "well your 30 days is coming up" .....NO, my 30 days on the calendar is today and her response was "oh you're going off the calendar" UMMMM Yes, how else do people count 30 days???? So she sent an email over to the supervisor that was looking at the account to get things pushed a little more. Took 8 days before anyone finally fave me information.
I finally heard back and they decided to settle for $800. They took $400 from me and justified it by saying that and I cancelled within 7 days and not 5. So 2 days cost me $400. The refund paperwork said that I could not file a complaint with the BBB or I would have to pay the money back. SO, even if you do your research like me......it wont show the real complaints because they will make it so where you cant file a complaint if you want any money back. PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY. IT WAS A NIGHTMARE AND THEY TOOK MY MONEY AND DID NOTHING FOR ME. I DONT WANT ANYONE TO MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE
