I stayed at MeCabo in Cabo San Lucas and was approached to attend a timeshare presentation at Casa Dorado, their sister resort. We traded in our current 2 week time share (2 bedroom suite / ocean view room) with a different property and bought a GlobequestTravel membership at Casa Dorado for the same room type. We have just been advised by GlobequestTravel Club that we no longer have access to the Casa Dorado resort as it has been overbooked by their members and unless this was your "Home" resort they can not longer offer this property to their members. This is UNLESS you want to pay an upgrade fee, over 8K in my case!!
So if I give them more money I can gain access to the resort that I've already paid for!! Casa Dorado is the only property on Medano Beach that GlobequestTravel has where I could even book a 2 bedroom suite, so basically I can no longer stay on Medano Beach, where I purchase my timeshare, because they have removed the resort I purchased at from my list of accessible resorts. Anyone else have this problem?? I think we have the basis for a class action lawsuit since they will make the inventory / resort available if you are willing to pay more money! Please comment and let me know if you've have a similar response.
We were also cheated about 3 years ago exactly as u describe. I complained to the Secretary of Tourism but nothing happened. We dealt with Aldo at Medano Beach Casa Dorado, what an A hole! We still travel to Cabo every January but REFUSE to stay in any Globe Quest property. We use VRBO website and stay other places that r a lot nicer then Casa Dorado. We simply spend our dollars elsewhere. I would participate in a class action lawsuit if that was possible. Fell free to contact me.
Don't do what I did it cost me $ 8000.00 for nothing. I had a very nice every other year time share at Casa Dorada for several years. Cost me about $ 800.00 every other year. Got talk out of it by GlobeQuest Travel Club. Believe I get nothing from them and now if I want to use my time share at Casa Dorada it is going to cost me $ 1600.00 each time I use it. Some deal. Also all the other things they offered are twice as much a what I pay through other services. If they approach you run as fast as you can. They are very convincing about what you are going to get. While they are showing you all the extra you will receive it looks like a great deal until it's not. Everything I try to use is way more than I can get it elsewhere. Hold tightly to your wallet and walk away.
Do not fall for this scam. Globequest Travel Club is just a timeshare ripoff that provides even less than an actual timeshare. And, they cannot be contacted to straighten out their memership, their finance arm as it connects to the membership, their 'travel services' to book a location....completely useless. They hide behind their very generic website, and are loathe to respond in writing to any request. The only people who actively want to talk to you is if you let your credit card expire so they HAVE to call you - that's the only way to get any service. Otherwise - good luck. Oh, and they want to charge you $20 to send a copy of your own contract.
We let ourselves fall for the presentation. High pressure sales pitch by Chris. When we ask to have an opportunity to read through the contract...he said fine but you only get one hour... Took me less than 15 mins to find all sorts of issues with the contract...i honesty don't think there would be enough red ink in Cabo to complete my markup..took doc back to Chris and he was appalled that I didn't care for the contract verbiage...all of a sudden super nice Chris turned into a rude person. Don't waste your time folks...it's better to just sit by the pool and drink beer
