Global Water in Maricopa is a despicable company to deal with. Aside from the fact that their rates are outrageous (I purchased a home there in 2009 as a second home and I'm rarely there. Even in months that I'm not there and don't use a single drop of water they charge me $94 a month!), they will shut your water off without warning just a couple weeks past the due date on your bill. Then they tell you it's $70 to re-connent. Then, they add an additional $30 charge for "after hours" re-connection fee. That's what happened to me last month, and I don't believe I even received the bill that month. It wouldn't surprise me if they rigged this kind of thing up to boost profits.
These guys don't give a crap about families in their community and are about one thing: squeezing people as fast as they can for cash. In all my years I have never dealt with a utility company that opertes like Global Water. Utilities should only be cut off as a last resort, not as a tool to increase the bottom line. I'm in the process of selling my Maricopa home and Global Water is one of the main reasons I decided to sell. In fact, I would recommend anyone thinking of buying a home there to reconsider. You'll be stuck with these guys and you'll hate it.
Hope there's a class action against this company some time. I'd sure chip in.
