In july of 2015 i need the services of a long distance mover , i did what i am sure most people do and searched on - line. After speaking with many companies i choose a company call king david moving & storage in houston .everything was fine until the foreman walked around my home and said the salesmand had under estimated my cubic ft. And he wanted almost double the price !! Please keep in mind i have 3 little kid's , sold my home and had to catch a flight the next day . After 2 hours of negotiating we settled on 30 % more ( which was quite a bit more money ) 40% of our houshold items were broken on delivery !! Every time i called the office i was yelled at by a woman named " latasha" .they never returned phone calls or reimbursed me for my broken items .on a scale of 1 - 10 this was a zero !! I am just now writting this report to warn other people about these people . I found thru my internet research they keep changing their name every year. The current name is " global movers in pearland tx . I had a friend who lives there in pearland drive by their current address and was not surprised to find out it is an office building !! Please read below i have added another report written on the same company , it is very detailed

Moving? Don't get ripped off by great american movers these criminals are far from great

In any industry you have bad characters. But when someone comes to your home, packs up all your stuff, takes off with it, and won’t give it back — that’s a terrible time to figure out you hired a shady mover. Most shady movers will operate in a state for a summer or two shut down and reopen at a different location under a different name

Great american movers is one of these companies they just opened shop in texas after doing shady business and extorting innocent families in california under the name of city transport and later in wa under the previous name of olympic van line.

They have ripped off hundreds of innocent families in the area they have not bothered to address any of the complaints extorting money from their customers without providing services leaving hundreds of families without their furniture and personal belonging

Wa officials also learned that the california public utilities commission (cpuc) had imposed a $10,000 penalty against, and revoked the operating authority of, city transport, inc. D/b/a mayflower moving & storage (city transport), ms. Green’s prior company. Ms. Green did not disclose any of this information in oracle marketing’s application for a household goods permit.

Washington officials also investigated consumer complaints filed against ms. Green with the washington better business bureau ( see link below )

http://www.bbb.org/western-washington/business-reviews/movers/great-american-moving-and-storage-in-tacoma-wa-22640519http://www.bbb.org/western-washington/business-reviews/movers/great-american-moving-and-storage-in-tacoma-wa-22640519

And the u.s. Department of transportation’s (usdot) federal motor carrier safety administration (fmcsa) when ms. Green operated another company, c.e.g. Marketing d/b/a olympic van lines. Ms. Pearson discovered a pattern of low estimates followed by much higher final bills to customers who felt they had to pay the additional money in order to get their household goods released by ms. Green’s company. Staff asserts that this shows a tendency to conduct harmful business practices and demonstrates that it is not in the public interest to grant permanent authority to oracle marketing.

Finally on oct 26th 2012 the utility and transportation commission commission under docket tv-120766 link is below revoked the license of this moving company and its president chena green http://www.wutc.wa.gov/rms2.nsf/177d98baa5918c7388256a550064a61e/d1cde437e1f6029888257aa3007b005b!opendocument

Notice of intent to deny application. On july 19, 2012, the washington utilities and transportation commission (commission) issued a notice of its intention to deny oracle marketing’s application for permanent authority for failure to meet the application requirements in rcw 81.80 and wac 480-15.

Staff considers oracle marketing unfit to hold a household goods moving permit in washington because of the company’s “history of noncompliance” and “harmful business practices.”

The company operated as a broker contracting moving jobs by providing low ball estimates and selling the job to illegal companies who triple the price and did not deliver the furniture to the customer

Chana green is a notorious criminal in the moving industry she has been operating as a rough mover for over 6 years moving from state to state and working illegally without a license

Global Movers & Storage Reviews

Nightmare from start to finish

I was contacted by global movers and was given an estimate. $2000.00. When the men loaded my things I was presented with a bill more than twice the est. $4770.00. I had less furniture than I did when I hit the estimate.

The day of the move it was raining torrentially and they left boxes and furniture in the rain to rearrange the truck. I was upset about it but not listened to. They ruined the carpet in the house so I had to pay for new carpet.

I complained about the fee and a man named Kevin called. He was insulting, unprofessional, accusatory and more. I told him there were bad reviews and he accused ME of slandering the company. He said so much junk that I gave up on him

My things were a week late arriving here. Arriving at 6:20 pm on a Sunday night. I had to pay more money to the unloaders so they would bring my things. Two men took 6 hours to unload basically a one bedroom condo.

The boy bringing in the boxes couldn't read English and so none of the boxes got to the right area and many were placed upside down.

They put up my bed but that was all. The hardware is missing from my table and they refused to put the legs on other tables. They left things wrapped in the company quilts.

My things were a wreck. The wet boxes had collapsed and looked as if they were tossed around. Boxes open, things falling out and more. The boxes had been damaged because wet corrugated paper doesn't stand up when wet.

I didn't get some furniture and am sure I will never see it again.

This experience has worn me out however I am reporting them to every agency out there. My senator, DOT, atty general.

  • Dec 12, 2016

a joke of movers

terrible company to work with start to almost finished. They were late and when they finally did show up they wanted more money before they would unload the truck. All my things were scattered through out the truck so they basically had to unload the whole semi of other peoples items before they could get to mine. Wouldn't let me check any of the numbers off & the guy unloading could hardly speak any english. Boxes labels caution fragile keep this end up were stacked upside down. Still missing items as I slowly sort thru the mess they left. When I contacted the company (thats a joke), they had another company with a different name call me back they said they had found some things but were sending me an email but haven't received that either.

What ever you do stay far far away from Global Movers.

Global Movers is a scam company. They will quote you a "binding" estimate, then load your items onto the truck before telling you that your price will be much much higher, even if your inventory list is exactly accurate. There is nothing binding about their estimate. The movers they contract with to actually move your things are rude, angry, and combative. In our case, after dealing with a horrible load that took threats to call the police, fighting with a customer service guy on the phone, and the mover insulting my wife and breaking antiques, this garbage service showed up a day earlier than I had been promised by another lying customer service rep.

This caused me to cancel important court settings, and rearrange my day. Further, the company told me via email that if I wanted the stuff delivered on the date promised, I would have to pay for storage overnight. The kicker here is this - Global Movers is a criminal enterprise.

Strong words? Yes. The GM named "Kevin"(fake name)told me over the phone that our property was destroyed purposefully in retaliation for a negative yelp review. Clearly explained to us that he ordered the property destroyed, and the unloaders continued the purposeful destruction as well. This is a felony offense, and a police report will be filed. Global Movers are criminals and scammers.

also scammed

Moved from Washington State across country. Got a good estimate from them. Like other reviewers, it was over $1000 higher than estimate!

After all was on truck and I checked my house, I found an entire closet they had not packed!! Movers said they would have to add that to cost...ANOTHER $500! Total cost, double original estimate.

I had to sign a 2nd pay sheet to include their update estimate. When i called to complain, Global says there is only one estimate sheet--not two-- the higher price, and I owe it all.

They are tying to blame me for having the wrong address, the wrong STATE, saying I did not update them properly--bullcrap.

Additionally, they forgot to pack two closets they dud estimate for, and they guys (i.believe ) started talking in Spanish unkindly about me.

The service harassed me with phone calls to check in urgently, put me on hold for great lengths of time, then said they didnt need to hear from me.

Trying to update info did not work, either auto or in person. They are sending my goods to the wrong STATE , for crying out loud.

They have horrible customer service, hounding me with delivery times, not speak English, say hello, identify their company or themselves, refuse to let me call back tomorrow, state they will allow my stuff to be in storage 1 month-- then deliver to wrong STATE without my permission.

Unfortunately, its not over yet.

What a nightmare

I don't even know where to begin except I am astonded they have an A- by the BBB. To start I was quoted one thing but she forgot boxes. Second person added boxes and added the missed item on manifest. I needed full amonut to be paid upfront. Which he promised was done. Well that was a joke because the driver said for me to get their furniture I have to pay another $679. Not to include the exta 100+ feet charges and elevator charge, WHICH I told him to include upfront. Then they pickup the items and forget the wheelchairs. I live in AZ so I had to do this all by phone. I call to tell them what happen. My parents tried to take the wheelchairs on plane but it was an ambulatory plane and my dad has a special chair that didnt fit. The wheelchair. Ame back by ambulance to a friend at which time I called the company. They placed me on a "brief" hour and four minute hold. I called from another phone and I'll be damed if the company was closed. I was able the next day to get it picked up and wanted the supervisor to call back because he was on the phone. Which is crap every time I reached out to him he was on the pbone.they gave me different delivery dates and finally someone said they had 2q days then it would have been yesterday but driver is coming tomorrow. Now it is 21 business days. Finally I now owe the extra 700 plus another elevator cost and extra feet costs. Which I already told the person to add it up front. I cant even dispute the cost or get a credit for the headaches because if I dont pay they dont deliver.

What thieves!!!!!!

THE BEST COMPANY

This was our third relocation in the last 2 years. Both the moves before the last one were disasters. The moving companies we hired broke such valuable stuffs- first time it was the big TV and then my favorite couchette. So, when we were moving again, we were quite concerned. My sister-in-law referred global movers to us who she had hired before. My husband called them and they gave us a very nice estimate. They sent over four very strong men to handle the job. The movers took a small of amount of time to finish the job. Then, surprisingly, the foreman gave us a bill that mirrored their estimate. It was such a relief. The best part was that nothing, not even a glass, broke during this move.

NEVER Use These Guys

Please do not use this company without reading this review. The very first thing you should know is that once your stuff is packed an loaded at your home, it will then be transported somewhere else, unloaded and loaded again (out of your sight), and then shipped to you final destination. Many companies do this to save money, but Global Movers did not do this well and this extra layer just enabled everyone to put blame on damage or delays on someone else. If you don't have anything nice and you just need it thrown in a truck and transported somewhere, then these guys are fine, but I would not use them if you have any nice furniture.

To be fair, we had a bad experience from start to finish with Global. Our sales contact told us exactly what we wanted to hear to change our move from another company to Global (a decision I sincerely regret). From miscommunication on the sales end (I'm not saying we were lied to because I think it was a fine line) to not showing up on our "guaranteed" pick up date in our contract to damaging almost all of our nice things, these guys did not have our best interest in mind at any point of the move. As soon as we found out that these guys were not who they said they were (only learned when we had all of our stuff packed and we were sitting there the morning of our delivery waiting on the truck which we found out after hours of phone calls would not be coming until the following day), we were locked in because we didn't know anyone else who could organize and get us packed up in a day's notice.

I will say, the team that packed our stuff up was excellent. Jimmy and his team took their time and did an excellent job, but they were a bright shining match in a sea of darkness for this move. After finally getting loaded up, the truck left and so did we. There were extra charges for more space, but any company will charge that and the rate seemed reasonable. Just know that these guys have up to 20 days to deliver your stuff per their contract, no matter what your salesman tells you. If you don't want to be sitting in your new home in a new state with no stuff for days, I would use someone else because these guys are horrible at communicating when the truck will arrive until 24 hours before.

Communication throughout our process was pretty poor as well. Once we complained several times, we were passed along to Kevin, the customer service manager. Kevin is not very helpful and if you try to hold him to the terms of the contract, he will only do so if it works in his favor (e.g. the "guaranteed" pick up date). He kept telling me that a follow-up questionnaire to the contract gave them leeway to load us a day later than guaranteed. Last time I checked, a questionnaire does not trump a contract. Also, the questionnaire asks if the customer will allow a 2-day pick up window "in cases of emergency". We did not say they could have a 2-day window, so we assumed they would show up on the "guaranteed" date. When I mentioned this to Kevin, he responded with "Well, then it was an emergency." Not very professional. Also, when I told him that they represented themselves as A+ rated but in fact they were A- rated with the BBB (small difference I know, but might raise some questions), he said that there's really no difference between an A+ and an A-, both are A's. Wow, I'm not sure the BBB agreed with that.

Anyway, in the end, our "professional" moving crew on the unload included one guy who moved to the US a week before and clearly had no previous experience. They blamed everything that was damaged on someone else. Our damaged items included the following: a shattered 6' mirror (even though it was bubble wrapped, shrink wrapped, and blanketed), 3 damaged chest of drawers (chipped edges, scratched paint, and dented tops: clearly little care was taken after it left our sight), a scratched and dented motorcycle (my fault for ever entrusting this to them), and lost table legs and boxes (a month and a half later I still had no heard anything about these items so I had to call them to find out they were still not found).

Overall, we had an exceptionally bad experience which put a damper on our move to a new state. We were incredibly disappointed with the service we received and the lack of care taken with our possessions. I would NOT use Global again, but if I did, I would buy extra insurance because you will need it. Not paying for more insurance was my biggest mistake (aside from believing the things we were told in the beginning). If you have absolutely no nice items to be transported, these guys are fine, but they will do no more than throw your stuff in a truck and get it to where you are going (pick up and delivery date not guaranteed).

Great move, decent prices

I would like to share my experience with Global Movers.

I feel like they took pretty good care of my things, they made sure to wrap and secure all of my furniture, I dos most of the packing of boxes my self. The guys were very fast and efficient, it's hard to keep it moving in the heat if Houston!

I feel like the price was a little higher then what j had originally planned to pay but after receiving my delivery I can now say that my money was well spent

What started out to be a simple move turned out to be a nightmare . I was offered a job on very short notice and had to move within a couple weeks . I was contacted by a man named " RAY " at global movers in st louis . he was very nice so I choose them and paid a deposit . several day's later I was solicited by another company who warned me about " global movers " I ignored his warning and stayed with global . two day's before my pick up they called me to review my inventory at which time my cost went up over 40 % !! with such little time left I said ok . two day's later when they arrived A man ( who spoke broken english ) came in , walked around and said I have a lot more things and wanted another 30 % more !! I THEN REALIZED THAT I HAD BEEN SCAMMED !!I kicked him out of my house and had to rent a u haul truck . a week later after getting settled in I called global movers for my deposit back , at which time they said it was not refundable . I then checked them out on line to discover what a true scam this co is !! they operate under many different names and then change to A new name after the complaints pile up . Ther is also another compliant on ripp off report.com about these thiefs . I also read dozens of bad yelp reviews from past names they have used . avoid this co at all costs . the sales guy gave me the warehouse address at 2172 pryor ave st louis , I looked it up on google earth and itlooks like a crack house . I am going to contact the dept. of transportation and teh atty. general's office in mo about these scammer's

Scammed too

I was scammed by the same people and I am fighting back. I talked to my senator and DOT to start an open case. I am not the only one reporting them
