I signed up for 2 home warranty plans with GHP and paid for coverage based on my conversation with their salesman. He told me I will receive the contract by mail in few days and could cancel within 30 days of signing-in for a full refund.

Despite my phone and email requests, GHP did not send me the contract until 28 days after I purchased the policy. I immediately read it and saw they had so many exclusions of coverage (items under warranty, etc.) despite what I was promised by phone. I emailed, called, and left 3 voice messages on the 29th day requesting a cancelation.

Their salesman called me back on the 30th day and told me he needs to get his supervisor's approval and that his supervisor will call me back within an hour. The supervisor never called back. I followed up several times and consistently asked for a cancellation. I even requested they wave the cancelation fee at this point because we are now 2 days past the 30-day grace period.

Finally, 2 weeks later, I was able to call and speak with a supervisor who would not allow me to cancel because “it is a mutual agreement” and I did not have a good reason to cancel!

To solidify my concerns about their poor coverage, 40 days into the policy period, the compressor in my new HVAC unit broke and the manufacturer was going to provide a free replacement but it needed to be installed. Even though I continued to request a cancelation worried about denial of coverage, both the salesman and his supervisor assured me it will get covered and directed me to file a claim saying they will personally note in my file that coverage will be guaranteed. This is only to find out later that day that the repair was denied! It turned out GHP deliberately mislead me to file a claim so they can charge me fees!

After numerous phone calls, GHP then agreed to cancel the policy only if 1) I pay hundreds of dollars in cancelation fees, administrative fees, and 1st month coverage AND 2) do not write about my bad experience in my reviews!

GHP deliberately delayed providing me with their contract, knowingly lied about coverage, refused to cancel my policy when requested within 29 days of payment, and denied refunding me my 3y prepaid premiums. In addition, they tried to silence me by threatening to disapprove my cancelation!

In summary, global home protection is a new company that misleads consumers, stealing their funds, and denying coverage even when they state they will.
