Pay attention. Very important: Glassdoor admits reviews on the site aren’t necessarily true. They don’t argue fact; they only check the languages to make sure it follows the so-called policies. That means as long as there is no profanity or improper languages, fact or not is not their business. They won’t even take or read evidence. The only thing they will not deny is a court order, which they have no choice to deny anyway.
Time to discard and ignore its reviews.
You’d be a fool to even think the reviews will more or less give you an idea of what is going on, or it is just exaggerated. Many of the reviews are completely false and madeup that is not even marginally related to the reality of the company.
Majority of the types of people who write bad reviews on Glassdoor:
1. Those who have been bad employees and terminated for misconducts. They are disgruntled because the company fired them or criticized them when they totally deserve it.
2. Those who have ulterior moves and wanted to conduct illegal or thefting activities with the employers but got caught or failed to advance. They hated the companies because their malicious moves has no avail and they were consequently fired.
Good employee types, even ended up at a bad companies, they will most likely know how to protect themselves or maintain a amicable relationship till they find an exit. It is not that common good employee materials will get disgruntled.
They are favored by employers and have great relationships with the employers. Hence the negative reviews are mostly from bad employees who always have bumpy ride wherever they go. They not only hate themselves, they project their own dissatisfaction onto the companies and think they are the problems of them all. Or they simply has inflated egos and don’t like getting fired or criticized even they are the ones who initiated it all.
Chances are if you are reading a review about a terrible or outrageous company, there is a terrible or outrageous employee behind it. The worse the employee, the worse the review they will write. Because the more severe their misconducts, the more severe their consequences, as well as their anger.
You might now think a review somewhere in the middle might be truthful reviews. Not really! It is actually written by mediocre employees whose neither too bad nor too favored by the employers. Therefore their experience with the company is about so-so or lame, reflecting exactly who they are. Remember great employees will likely have a great experience as a result of their great work and ethics. Their reviews would be quite positive but most of the time happy employees don’t have a need to get the word out – as much as the bad, disgruntled employees.
So the myth resolved: Glassdoor reviews has no credibility and are utter misleading. Most of the time, bad reviews are written by bad employees, middle reviews are by mediocre employees!
Time to discredit Glassdoor for being a sanctuary place for bad employees to rant it out. The most horrible cases are those employees with ulterior, malicious moves coming to Glassdoor to retaliate because the companies won’t allow them do the bad things or their plans failed because they got caught! The innocent employers not only has been harmed and targeted, but also now Glassdoor is the enabler of a second unfounded harm.
It is time Glassdoor remove their review systems as it brought no value at all in terms of evaluating the truth of a company. And how sarcastic the enabler of false reviews is now receiving negative reviews itself, the only difference is the negative review here is true!
Glassdoor recently removed a negative review about two doctors working for Asian Americans for Community Involvement in San Jose California. The review stated that the Organization is an excellent support for the community and staffed by mostly compassionate and pro community individuals. However, the ethical behavior of two doctors in charge of the Internship program is believed to be questionnaire. Every year the internship program faces difficult situations created by some of the interns, the review stated, whose behavior are not adressed by the two main supervisors in charge of the program. The review was posted and accepted by glassdoor. After few days, the review disapeared. I saw the review one day and then I did not. I was going to apply for a job at the organization and changed my mind after missing review. Other glassdoor users have also reported the same situation online. GLASSDOOR IS A RIPOFF!
Glassdoor appears to show favoritism towards companies who receive a majority of negative reviews. I wrote the following regarding my experience with US Nonwovens and was told that it was being removed:
"Avoid at all costs"
Pros:
The owner, and his two warring sons, are very hands-on. They don't really want to know how the sausage is made but they want the best solution --- as long as it's cheap.
Cons:
The warfare between the two sons is intense: they like to play employees off against each other. Woe to the employee or manager who provides info on a fellow employee or something the brothers can use against you or someone else, especially his brother.
The company invests into facilities without actually doing a thorough study then dumps them like chips in a poker game.
The Long Island boys ride hear on the locals who work at these new acquisitions thinning out the crowd
It's not that they are right, it's that everyone knows they know how to play the game (with the owners).
Advice to management:
Keep doing what you're doing. It works for you. Unfortunately, it doesn't work out so well for the acquistions and the poor, underpaid, casually-disposed of workers who trudge along through your mistakes.
I was then told to add my complete identity to the review or it would be deleted. Doing so would expose me to a law suit. Law suits today are less about winning and more about intimidation.
We are a small business of about six people. Like most businesses- we made a bad hire. The person was let go after 3 months and we thought that was the end of the mistake. Glassdoor gave a voice to the ex employee despite language in our employment agreement prohibiting use of social media and our company name. Glassdoor sales team called our firm with a promise to improve our ratings and remove the bad reviews for a 10,000 fee. We paid, and they did not provide anything except a cheap Glassdoor website, and consultant that encourages you to get more reviews of current and prior employees. After this occurs, your current employees will get weekly emails from Glassdoor with advice on getting more pay and applying for other jobs. This is a scam - DONT pay anything to Glassdoor for their services.
Applied for a job through Glassdoor. Received an email that the company Teva Pharmaceuticals was interested in doing an online interview. The recruiter was also on Linked In. Completed the interview and sent the necessary information. Received a job offer. It was all a scam. So upset that this happened and don't want it to happen to anyone else.
Glassdoor.com pretends to offer reviews of companies written from employees of said companies. I tried to write a review of my company and it was rejected as 'too harsh.'
What good is a review if it isn't honest. not sure what glassdoor.com is selling but they aren't selling the truth
This company is a scam. They will offer you their services and take your money but will do little or nothing to help your reputation. They make money by getting companies to buy their services which in turn creates a lot of negative reviews for the company. Then they will not help get them removed. They Love getting negative reviews against everyone and anyone. Instead of removing them, they likely try to create online conversations between the poster and the business being attacked. This creates traffic for Glassdoor and harms the companies repuation and ability to attract good job candidates. Avoid this company at all costs. You will lose money and business by trusting them. They are a terrible company to deal with!
