My mother and I were approached by a door salesman who promised us free television service for life. He said we could get HBO and many other channels for free. They attached some kind of box to our homes and said this would save money on our Energy bill. and to have the security system put in. When the man arrived to put in the security system there was no explanation of any contract. Next thing I knew I was told to sign the paperwork online without even knowing this was a five-year contract I then redid the contract to 3 years and at this time called the company to cancel. Steve the salesman talked me out of it. My service on one door is already broken it doesn't work my mother and I have never gotten our free television service. My mother claims that she never signed a contract and they are telling her that she did. We want to cancel the service we are not happy with any of this their customer service is terrible and they are telling us that we cannot cancel. We want to cancel these contracts we are not happy with the service at all we were scammed.

I got a home alarm monitoring system with Safeguard America on Jan. 24, 2012 with a 60 month contract & renewed the contract on May 16, 2016 at a rate of $44.00 a month. On Sept. 14, 2016 a representative from GHS Security came to my door & told me GHS Security would do all the same things Safeguard did plus it would continue to keep my alarm active in case the electricty went out. I told the rep, Nick Monquecho I already had a contract w/ Safeguard.

Nick then told me, don't worry , GHS would pay the cancellation buy out fee & all I had to do was cancel my service w/ Safeguard as they could not do that, but he could help me cancel the service. All I had to do was say I wanted to cancel my service. He then dialed a number, handed me the phone, & I said, "This is Cynthia Bamsch & I want to cancel my alarm service, please." Nick then took the phone back & said that was all we had to do. We then proceeded to sign the new contract agreement w/ GHS for a 60 month period & he called GHS for approval at which time a brief review of the terms were given. I was then given the date the new equipment would be installed & it was.

I believed service from my 1st company was discontinued. However, I recently discovered I have been monitored & paying the monthly fee for both companies. I immediately called GHS & asked what was going on, I thought service had been cancelled from Safeguard the day I signed up w/ GHS. I was transferred from Ceasar to Carlos at GHS who told me he could help me take care of this problem, all I needed to do was send a copy (front & back) of my contract w/ Safeguard & the pay off calculation fee from Safeguard to him by fax or email & he could help me. I faxed a copy of the contract & the amount of $1980 calculation fee plus $484 total of 11 months monthly fees I've paid to Safeguard. The following Mon. or Tues. a representative named Isabella left a message for me to return her call.

I called Isabella & she now tells me they can't help me until I send a copy of my "Final Bill" which I told her I didn't have because my service was never cancelled like they lead me to believe. She said , "We have a recording telling you we couldn't cancel your service, you had to do that." I then told her about the phone call which was supposed to be to Safeguard cancelling the service. She just kept repeating, she couldn't do anything without the final bill & was I refusing to send the information they needed. She finally said when I sent the final bill, she'd see what she could do, if anything to help me. In other words, they were probably going to say well you're the one that cancelled the service & had the contract, so you'll have to pay the cancellation bill!

This company GHS came into my home when I was legally bound by an alarm contract w/ Safeguard, they lied about what they would do, they dialed some phone number (I now believe it was a 1-800 #) & coersed me into believing my service w/ Safeguard was cancelled & have given me the run around each time I asked, "Will you still pay the cancellation fee? How much will you pay? And are you going to reimburse my double payments?" They would not say they would pay anything. I have only gotten the run-around when I called back & told them I was writing the BBB and the Attorney General because they had illegally stolen my money for the last year.

I want this contract with GHS dismissed, I do not want them to say their cannot be cancelled because they did not have 30 days written notice, I want my payments refunded, I do not feel responsible for their "equipment" (a Monitor box) and I do not wish to have any other dealings with this company that lies and tricks their customers. They are unethical.
