My husband made a reservation and made a mistake in 5 minutes of having made the reservation called direct Holiday Inn of Miami Bayside to cancel and it is funny because they told him that to cancel it he had to have called 48 hours before, as if he had just made the reservation anyway I wrote to the corporation and according to them they returned the money to getaroom, but these people are going to keep the money for them because they are applying the rule of cancelarion so the hotel return without any problem and getaroom they want to keep my money people very careful with these people if you make a mistake you will know that you have lost your money
I had originally booked my stay a Quality Inn Suites Pensacola Bayview via getaroom.com from 18-21 of May. From the moment I checked I there it was less than adequate care. After waiting 10 minutes to get a room key i was finally able to go to my room and try and relax after driving all day. Only to find that the access door was not working. So i had to go back to the front desk to get it resolved. It was then i first asked Ashley at the front desk that iif i chose to leave early would i be reinbursed the days i did not stay she said absolutely. After getting to my room I was finally able to try and relax only to find that the AC shut off in the middle of the night. Since you could hear everything through the paper thin with walls, i was able to witness the ever increasing sounds of the couple next to me argue half the night. I figured I would give them one more stay and hope for the best.
So after I returned from a day at the beach I was again not able to get into my room. So I go back down too the office to get my key re-activated. While I was there I spoke with Ashley about my experience there and specifically asked her that if I chose to leave would I be reinbursed for my last night there Since I booked the room through a third party Getaroom.com. She stated that as long as I checked out by 11 am it be ok. So that night I was again keeper awake by the sounds of those around me all while trying to keep the room cool with the AC that didn’t want to stay on.
The following morninig on Sunday may 20th, I chose to leave the hotel in which i checked out before 11 am of which I was told to do. I again the front desk, this time it was Ashley if I would be compensated for leaving one day early she again said yes. After she checked me out I asked for a receipt and she stated that she could not provide one for me because ”it contained card information about the party who had booked the hotel for me.” And would not give me any documentation for my stay or early departure. She said that she had issued my refund back to getaroom.com and to contact them in a day or so and ask that they refund this to me. I did just that and soon received an email confirming my request. Ticket number 2001355 I spoke initially with taryn n. Eberhardt on Tuesday may 22. I then received a reply back the following day from Courtney lamb with getaroom.com. She stated that “ despite their best efforts quality inns &suites did not agree to provide a refund or compensation for this reservation. I asked multiple times that if I checked out early that I would be refunded my last day. i Am under the impression that quality inn & suites did credit them back for my last day it’s just that getaroom.com is refusing to issue my credit. So therefore I will be filing a fraud claim with my credit card company as well.
I was on line and tried to book a room with a hotel. Somehow, it transferred me to a third party's web site. I entered fields to get a quote of $152.11 noncancellable rate and clicked Continue. They, without ever disclosing taxes and junk fees, confirmed @211.20 per night. Note, I never hit a Buy or Purchase button!
I called them immediately to complain. Customer Service's accent sounded like third world - uh oh, do they even have assets that can be reached by US regulators? They said the Customer Service Supervisor was out and to call back the next day. This went on for 4 days. Seems like Supervisor is out every day. And she can't call me!. After repeatdly explaining this and saying it was unacceptable and would Not authorize credit card payment, they said they would refund the disputed charges. I asked when? Respone: after I check out. When exactly? More than 90 days after check out ... so credit charge could not be contested and they could renege on their deal to me. So, it appears their offer to make any refund is 100% fake. And they refused to send me an email to confirm their offer.
I am not an attorney so don't know if this qualifies as fraud or credit card theft (since I never authorized the purchase) or covered by some internet law or covered by racketeering laws since there appears to be collusion among third parties. But I will be polite and just call it a Scam.
I called Credit Card company immediately to explain that I never authorized this and to refuse payment. To me this is equivalent to credit card theft. But it is a "he said, she said" situation. How do I prove that I hit a Continue button without the scam artist's disclosure of taxes and junk fees? So, this far, Capitol ONE has charged my account and will investigate.
I also called the Hotel immediatly. The manager was nice. But she cannot refund the $$$ since the scam artist does not send the hotel money until after I check out (if ever)! They wil agree to cancelling the reservation - but the scam artist still would not agree to undo their fake purchase.
In any event, I strongly suggest you Stay Away From www.getaroom.com and the other aliases.
I booked a reservation on January 7th using Getaroom at 7:52 pm. The booking was for January 10th to January 20th, at a cost of $2,310.01. Immediately after realizing the taxes were loaded, I cancelled that reservation and received a confirmation of cancellation at 8:11pm. I then booked the same hotel, same period with booking.com.Their price was $1,368.00. I got to the hotel on January 10th and the lady at reception said to me there are two reservations in the system for you. I said to her, one of them was cancelled and showed her the confirmation of cancellation. She advised me to call the company and just confirm the cancellation because it was not showing as cancelled in the system of Sheraton Suites. I did so immediately, spoke with a gentleman who assured me that Sheraton Suites will receive a cancellation and I would not be charged. I felt comfortable that all was in order. I returned from my vacation only to find that this company, after all of that still put the charge through my account for the $2,310.01. I found this to be unethical, abusive and downright crooked.
Finding myself in Kanab, Utah on a monday evening and not being able to find a vacancy, we called GetARoom.com by telephone at 800-468-3578. They confirmed all rooms in Kanab were booked. Than offered a room in Springdale Utah, which was out of my way. Than they said they found a room in Colorado City, AZ which was about 38 minutes from my location. I accepted.
When I got my email confirmation about 5 minutes later I discovered a reservation made at Days Inn Colorado City, but not Arizona but Colorado which was 652 miles away. Immediately calling them back to have getaroom.com fix their mistake we were told that they could not cancel the reservation made in Colorado and I would have to pay for the room. After a 45 minute telephone arguement with several different people I told them that I will dispute the charge wth my bank and that there was no way I would pay for their mistake.
