Getaroom.com is a scam. I booked a room through Kayak who then informed me through an email after purchase that getaroom would be handling the 'customer service."
I booked and cancelled a room through getaroom.com well before the fully refundable cancellation date. When I checked my credit card statement, getaroom had charged me $25 for cancelling the room.
When I called getaroom customer service, they said that the hotel, not getaroom had charged me the fee. I called the hotel wholesale reservations department who informed me that not only did they fully refund my payment (so that getaroom could then return the funds to me) but that, that policy DOES NOT EVEN EXIST.
I called getaroom back but they simply read me a bogus script about the $25 charge over and over like robots.
After sensing this was a scam, I looked the company up online and sure enough, so many customers were getting worked over in the exact same way.
Be careful and do not use this company. If you book through Kayak, make sure that getaroom.com does not, in fact, handle your reservation. They are a nightmare. Customer service, if you can call it that, is just a bunch of rude robots who will refuse to help you no matter what proof is presented.
I can only assume that getaroom is profiting off of customers such as myself. Instead of providing support, getaroom.com banks on the fact that if they read you a script of a policy that was clearly never agreed to or outlined in any communications, you'll simply give up.
We did a search on the internet trying to find a room for a trip to fernie. We noticed several places and wife picked a Hotel we thought was nice. It was listed thew getaroom.com and we phoned to determine what it was, we were quoted 200 dollers for the two nights and thought it wasn't bad , not great but ok. So we booked it , In small print they started this was american price NOT canadian , we are in canada calling about a canadian location why would we be quoted in american. Until i saw my m/c bill i did not see that they did this.
The hotel was an abomination , the first night we arrived the hotel had no power (this was the middle of august). When we woke the next day the A/C was so loud it was impossible to talk in the room, the floor boards from the upstairs unit was so loud we heard every footstep and other noises that occured. We were stuck there and told thatr we would not recieve a refund for the day and could not cancel.
We spoke to thier representative about the issue and because they couldn't contact the hotel(no power) they were not going to do anything about it.
RUN from this company and the three sisters hotel in fernie BC , don't walk , RUN
