Our water heater, a high end Polaris model, needed a new igniter. The sales person contacted on March 16 in the a.m. told me the service charge would be $ 149.00. The company needed to know the model number and serial number of our appliance because if they didn't have the specific information they would have to charge us another $ 149.00 when they had the part to install. Fair enough.
We found the requested numbers and relayed them to the sales person who told us the company would contact us later in the day to arrange for service. No one contacted us, When I called back, the sales person said "Oh sorry, I forgot to call you back". We made arrangements for service the following day, Saturday.
The technician showed up the following day, as agreed upon, but did not have the part, saying they do not stock parts and it would require another service call ($149.00) plus the cost of the part. The latter is understood. What is not understood that, since I supplied all the necessary numbers, why did they not have the part to install at the time of the first service call?
I had called the manufacturer of the water heater prior to contacting George Morlan Company and with their help was able to diagnose the malfunction. It was indeed a faulty igniter.
I have since contacted a different repair shop which insured me that the Polaris water heater's igniter has not changed for many, many years. The other company will honor my request for service on Wednesday.
As of today, Monday, we are still out of hot water, and incidentally, out of a working furnace because our water heater is connected to our furnace. My husband is 88 years old and I am no youngster, either. We are cold and frustrated about the"Water Heater King" company and their lack of service and their fraudulent practice.
Don't tell me there will be no additional service charge if I supply the model numbers required to order a replacement part.
