I wish I found this website before I contracted with this terrible person. Like all the other complainants say, he comes of very knowledgeable and honest in the beginning, but he really is a charlatan. He is the laziest person I have ever met, just look at his hands - softest hands ever for someone in construction. He lied through his teeth to us. Always the same stories "truck broke down", "please loan me money for rent", "please loan me money for cellphone". And just like some other complainant, we also supplied him with coffees and dinners. He is super naive also, He told one of the guys that his plan was to just keep working here until our money ran out. He saw it as a salary.
We contracted with him for $74k to do a major renovation (exterior) of our house. This was in March 2017. He promised to be 6 guys and that the work would be completed in 9 weeks. 12 months later the work is not done ,plus he was never more than 3 guys with him sitting and looking whilst the other two were working. What was done was done terribly where done and he has walked off the job with the full amount paid without the job being done. he also managed to get us to increase his contract amount to $120k. We had to keep paying or else we would have to lose the house as it was unlivable. He calls himself a Christian but not even satanist are as bad as he is. lol
Stay away. Safe yourself from his lies and drama and bad work.
George Doganis moved to New York sometimes in 2013. I met him through mutual friends in the spring time of 2014. He was looking for a job as a home impovement contractor. I hired him to build closets in my bedrooms and I was paying him daily labor of $180 a day for him and another $180 for his co-worker George so we could finish fast.
The verbal agreement was that I would provide all materials and supplies due to the fact that he had no credit at the time. During the process the bedrooms became unlivable and I decided it was the right opportunity to remodel my bathroom as well, new tiles and plumbing features. He worked for 2 weeks straight and completed the major work. When we got to the point to finish the details such as grouting the tiles, cleaning etc. He told me that he got another job in the meantime and he will be coming to complete my job after hours; Since he gave me no other option we agreed to continue paying him by the actual hour he worked.
Because my house was unlivable at the time I had my wife and 3 children to move out of the house for the duration of the job. He came to work 3 days after his other work for a total of 6 hours. Everytime he was here he was making more mess and than actual work. I think his clothes had more plaster than my walls. Everywhere he walked in the house plaster and other building materials was left all over. When I finally confronted him to clean after his mess. His reaction was to clean it myself because all day I was seating in my a*s doing nothing. I told him that he had no right to talk to me like that and the he was actually working for me since I was paying him. He walked out on me and never came back. He never completed his job and left the house a big MESS.
Every morning I was making him breakfast for him and his co-worker and buying him lunch. At the end he left me and called me several names as well.
I also found out that in the 80's and 90's he was taking deposits from people to do construction work and never showed up, he moved to Greece. When he returned from Greece sometimes in 2013 he was saying that he wasn't the same person any more because now he had a wife and a child and he convinced me to help him work so he could pay his rent since he was unemployed at the time. I guess some characters do not change.
I forgot to mention that when he left furious he made damages to granite shaddles.
