I called Gentech LLC(Original one) almost a year ago , when I was not able to connect my epson printer to my wireless network. Benjamin was one of the technician there who took access on my computer and helped me to recognise the issues . Laterly he tried to sell me some security plans and some tech help. I took the tech help plan for one year to check the service. I called them many times and all the time I get positive response from them. they are realy helpful. Later one day, someone called me and said they are from gentech and my computer/network security is not working. they took access on my computer and tried to sell me the security plan that was way to high for one computer, laterlly they managed to convince me to buy the security for all my devices. I have given allmy information and was ready to buy securities but when they told me that they want money from western union, this is where i thought i should stop. i put that call on hold and called my son to verify whats going on, he told me about this scam. i called gentech llc to inform them about the whole scenario and they helped me to calm down and helped me to recover my data. i was so scared and was crying because I had all my late husband pics in my computer, then ashley helped me and assigned a technician. Gentech is good guys , perhaps someone using there name to scam people.
It all started with a pop up, warning me that my computer was infected. I decided to call to find out more about this scam. Unfortunately, I got a voice mail and was a little disappointed. I still left a few messages so perhaps they would call me back. Anyway, the next morning I tried again and got through that time. The man on the phone was quite nice (all things considered) and did not even bother with the sales pitch: just what I like, straight to the point. Our first step was to launch a legitimate program (TeamViewer) so that he could remotely take control of my PC and run a program to scan for viruses. I’m really excited to see what it’s going to find!
This fraud begins as a computer virus warning prompting you to call a purported Microsoft phone number to obtain help removing a ip hack.
The perpetrator asks to install remote access software.
Signed up in April. All same stuff - pop-up, panicked call to pseudo Microsoft, referral to GenTechllc....I totally fell for the pitch signed up for $400 maintenance. Had no idea I'd been scammed. No problem with my computer in the last two months. Last night got a call. They were "shutting down for 2 months" and so were calling to send me a refund. Did I want a check or to to do online? In two months they would call back to see if I wanted to sign up again. I said I'd like a check and they said they'd email me the next day to send a picture of a check to confirm.....I'm waiting to see what that check will look like. So pissed I fell for it....scary how easily they sucked me in.
I'm relieved that so far I've only lost money - not anything on my computer...I guess they just want money. If they screwed up the computer, their game would be over....
I verified this information about the error message and actually found out that someone is using gentech llc name to scam us citizens, the toll free number doesn't belongs to them and the website is different. I went through the same process and got an alert on my computer but that was from norton and I trust norton and the company provided me the support.
Alex William; Ayub I turned on my computer and it started flashing warning/warning. A voice came over the computer and said "you have been hacked." Please call 844-355-9152. I did and some foreign gentleman started asking me questions like "may I acess your computer to find the problem". They used LogMe in Rescue to get into my computer. (Ayub) Ran a long dianostic report. That I had a trojan on my computer. He asked if I knew what is was; then he explain and asked do I know what Kaboom(?). Then he said in order to fix this they gave me the option of having tech support come in or online support. Tech would cost $300-$350 (that would last a year), Online $150 (One time only fee online). After that I got this note from this Alex William guy. They tried to call from 202-563-2651 Washington DC and left a message. Alex calling from gentech I have been assigned to the welcomed computer; done my work on it you may check. You're welcome to call me back or answer the chat online.
I too got scammed on 4/29/16. They seemed very knowledgeable and very polite. I watched them for 2 hours clean out my system, install "Adblock Plus" anti-virus software, they said they are "encrypting" my IP address and all passwords so no hackers can breach security. Yes, I paid $249.00 which included 3-years of anti-virus software. Other than reading all the scam reports on this company, it seems like the only thing they are scamming is producing the pop up alerting you of a potential threat and charging you money to correct it. I have not heard of anyone having their identity stolen, or their bank accounts wiped out. Did they actually protect my computer? Not sure. Do they continue to take money out of your account for other services? Haven't heard of that either. So I am not sure what to expect. The "One-time fee" has been paid, but now Geed Squad wants money to check for viruses and remove all that GenTech did. For what? Not sure if they planted a virus or not.
Can anyone say if this company installed viruses or is hacking into your accounts?
please check your bank statement , if you do not have any unauthorized charge then you are ok with it and take your computer to geekssquad only if you are facing the problem . I also had the same concern but laterally found out that these are good guys and really have good knowledge about computers, whenever I need any assistance I call them and they help me through this.
I recieved a pop up on my compurt indicating I had been hacked and I had to call a phone number. When I called the number they answered Microsoft support". I was told I needed to give them access to my computer which I did.
After they gained access I was told I had to pay $149.99 to stop the hacker. When I was told I could only pay by debit card I became suspicious. I asked questions and was told they were Gentech LLC a third party contracted by Microsoft. I didn't pay, I called Microsoft and was told they were not part of Microsoft.
Gentech left a shortcut titled "Gentech" on my computer and I am unable to remove it. I now have to pay Microsoft $239 to remove it or this scam company can use it to access my banking information.
I just also almost got scammed by a company posing as Gentech (web address www.support.me), but my husband walked in mid install and disconnected me. I then contacted the REAL MICROSOFT 1-800 642-7676 who checked all of my systems and told me that this bogus company had installed a "portal" which would have allowed the company to see my screen any and all times, and all of my data as well. The tech then looked at everything in our harddrive and uninstalled numerous other spyware programs that the scammers had installed. I am told that everything is now "clean", but I am changing all of my passwords just to be sure. Lesson learned. I think the scammers have realized it makes them a lot less suspicious sounding if they do not try to charge for their "help" because the real Microsoft does not charge. I am also told they could not access info that had been previously saved, they could only "see" things I would do in the future. Also the warning message that I received was the "Microsoft Edge had blocked my IP address due to an infection of some sort. All of my browsers and windows became completely frozen. FYI. BE SAFE
Similar to a report from Rento WA, my pc was interrupted by an error message and a loud beeping when I tried to access an internet site. The pop up note said there was a Windows 10/internet problem that had to be fixed. It stated a number to call and to not turn off the computer. I called the number, thinking it was a Microsoft site. I let them access my PC and they said my PC had mutlitple infections and needed their technician to take over my PC and fix the isssues. The offer was to fix the PC virus issue and a 3 year coverage plan for $400. I finally questioned the whole process - I didn't see how my pC could react so violently to my search and then ask to call 855-202-1840. After a half hour discussion, I decided to decline the offer and to hang up. Not sure if it is a scam or if Gentech LLC is reallly the company I was talking to... My PC seems to be working ok.
Same as previously reported above, the alarm went off and I was stupid enough to respond to their 800 number, I fell for the scam and didn't realize it until they explained that I should not accept calls from Microsoft, Apple, Dell. They were really sharp in their technical abilities and knowledge of the system. They really push the online repair as they do not really want you to take it to an authorized store, but are still really willing to fix over the line and just needing a charge card.
I immediately reported this as a SCAM and cancelled my card to prevent any possible charges.
Recommend "DON'T GET SUCKERED IN THIS SCAM. Merchant name: "pes*pctechpayments.com", it can be USA/UK/CHINA. ALL BEWARE.........

It all started with the pop-up ad and the phone number to call for help.An Indian man answered and asked for permission to enter our computer which we gave. The " tech" then started listing off all the 8 things that were wrong with our computer and that it was going to cost almost $ 300.00 to fix it. We gave him our credit card number and then he transferred us to another Indian man we was going to fix it. Meanwhile, I was becoming very suspicious of this whole thing so I called the Geek Squad at Best Buy and they said that no reputable company comes soliciting business like that so I quickly called our credit card company and stopped payment on the card. When we told the "tech" what we had done, he became very abusive and said that he knew we were old and that he was just trying to help us and that we had scammed him and that God was watching us!!! Beware of this evil scam!!!
They are a scam. I googled them, called them and Microsoft. They said they were Microsoft partners but they are not. Call your credit card company and get the charges reversed.

Gentech scam company from India
These are scammers from India (NOIDA, near New Delhi)

They tried but did not succeed.
I also was targeted for a victim.....my computer sounded a very loud warning sound and a popup
came up saying that my computer was infected...and I should call a phone # with a 844 prefix.
I allowed them in with Team Leader , after a "scan" I was told my computer was was infected and
cleaned. They told me I had to pay 250.00. When I said I would only use Amex, the foreign "gentlman"
got very aggitated.
My suspicians were confirmed. I the only way I could get rid of him was by powering off
my cell phone..
What baffles me, is why, when their location in Springfield is known, the FCC has
not investigated and closed down this slimy operation.

Yes It's a Scam
It doesn't take 114 dba shell company names and 114 websites on just one IP address to run a business.
Amazon, BestBuy, Google, HP, McAfee, Microsoft, Symantec, and Walmart are *not* these jokers' clients.
Payment processing collects sensitive personal information over an unsecured connection.
Creating fake popups of fake computer errors is false advertising and a malicious browser exploit.
Do not call, answer, or permit access to your computer. Do not provide financial or personal details.
SCAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
I just had this happen to me yesterday.
This is another clever scam.

They are a scam. I googled them, called them and Microsoft. They said they were Microsoft partners but they are not. Call your credit card company and get the charges reversed.

did they ever said they were microsoft
