Absolutely a scam. They ripped off my father and constantly have excuses and lies. YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR MONEY. They'll constantly sell the assets (YOU!) to another company of their little ring so they aren't obligated to do anything for you.
Reuben Ross (history of scamming people... charged by the FTC, etc) will not return calls unless you post here or on their facebook page... then you MIGHT get a call. Told my father and me that the diamond purchased for $10k+ was worth over $30k USD. Charged $3500 to auction a diamond that they didn't actually even have. I did manage to get the $3500 back, but it should have never been charged in the first place. I consider myself lucky to get that back at least. The diamond itself... worthless. I had it appraised locally and it's full retail value is less than $3500... if someone was actually interested in this junk diamond. I'll be lucky to get $800 for this garbage.
I gave the company every opportunity to prove me wrong in my early assumpiton that they are a scam and they failed. I'll STILL give them the opportunity to make things right and post updates praising them if they do... but I don't think they have any interest in this. I've notified the RCMP, Toronto Police, our lawyers, media and others online and will be launching a campaign to ensure these guys don't scam anyone in the future. Reuben, Howard, Jeff... if you're reading this, feel free to make things right with me as well as anyone else you've screwed over.
Talk to your peers, your parents, your children... DO NOT fall for telemarketing scams like this. These guys are professional career cons and can be very persuesive. Spread the word on your facebook and twitter pages about these guys.

i would like to add the exact same story has happened to me and we are still awaiting funds from the reseller. we have all heard that before. no return phone calls even though we were told time and again that they would return calls at the end of the day.
Several years ago I purchased an argyle diamond. Very small but significant price for me as an investment. Four years later Reuben Ross called to invite me to sell the diamond since it had increased in value. It was placed in an auction in Hong Kong at my cost but no sale.
They explained that the Hong Kong market was more into jewelry and that the odds were almost 100% that it would sell if it were made into a ring. They worked with a client and designer to create a ring. I was told that this client was interested in purchasing the ring. I paid for the design and build of the ring. That 'client' did not purchase so they put it into another auction. No sale.
Reuben Ross now claims that a European reseller has made arrangements to buy up my ring and many other pieces that Genesis holds. This was in early November 2018. The funds were delayed for some reason; then delayed again for another reason; appointments were set to sign off on the bill of sale and appointments were rescheduled and cancelled on many occasions. Then the holiday season. Then I was told that there were unavoidable issues that delayed the funds transfer. I have a history of texts dating back many months making excuses and setting new deadlines for the sale to close. At this point there is no response to my calls and texts.

Purchased 2 coloured diamonds 5 years ago. They said they would sell at a profit. No sale. Told me last Sept. to let them put one diamond in a ring $8g and they would put it in the Hong Kong auction in Feb 12/18. They took delivery of this stone last year so is in their care, I still have one in my care.
Called Mr Ruben Ross from Genesis Rare Diamonds and told me the stone was sold for $93000.00 US. After many calls from me and promises from Ross that payment was forthcoming he will not return my calls. We get all kinds of promises. Where is my stone, should I report it missing, they had insurance on it for safekeeping.

I purchased an Argyle diamond in 2010 on the premise that the stone would sell at a profit when the Argyle mine closed in 2018. The mine duly closed but no sale in fact no true increase in profit (according to a jeweller friend). I was contacted by one of their agents Howard advising if I put it into an auction in Hong Kong it would 100% sell-no sale. I was further contacted by Reuben Ross advising they had found a Japanese buyer if I had it set in a gold ring with diamonds inset- guess what- I didn't send the money fast enough so the sale fell through although they did not tell me this until some 3 months later when I chased them for a conclusion. In my opinion this company will sell you items under false pretences with no chance of a credible sale.

I would like to give them a zero star!! I have the exact same scam happening to me it all started in 2017 with a pack of lies from Reuben Ross.
took diamond turned into a ring for $12,000.00 said he had it sold for 100K USD never happen and the lies just continued. now I am told he has been let go from Genesis. I hope to at least get the worthless ring back. STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAMMERS.
