Worst refining company I have ever came across. I sent them 170 ozt split into 2 batches, 1 was watch cases and band tops (clean and all marked, nothing lower than 1/10 GF) and the other lot was Gold Filled Jewelry, also all marked and tested). The lady Theresa quoted me over the phone on a mediocre 100 ozt lot over $30 per ozt. So I decided to try them out with my Gold Filled scrap, before sending my gold. I got my assay numbers today... I was shocked! They paid me gold plate prices at 1% return, approx $13 per ozt, not even 1/3 of what she quoted me. My local dealer would have paid me $20 an ozt, no questions asked. When I mentioned that to her she said nothing. Is this place even a real refinery??? Took them a week to do the assay from the time it was delivered. I’ve never been screwed so bad in my life, wouldn’t recommend this "company” to my worst enemy. We have been in the jewelry business for over 25 years and have never had a return come back so bad. The only way this place is staying in business is by screwing over new, one time only customers. Shame on you. You don’t even deserve 1 star! Anyone thinking of sending this place your scrap, you are better off throwing it in the trash! (Seriously, run as far away from this con company you can & don’t get burnt like we did). Who ranked them #1 smelter is 2017???? Sounds like somebody is running false ads and getting scrap, taking it to an actual smelter, then writing a receipt and keeping the difference.
The first experience was o.k., but after that things went south. With their so called 24/48 hr turnaround time, I was ripped off over $700 worth of 10k gold melt. I was promised a call by Dave, the supervisor, and he never followed up. I just got the "run around" and an apology from Teresa as well as all the miscommunication, unanswered questions and the missing gold!
I did file a complaint with the BBB in NY, and am waiting for a response from an investigation they are conducting. BEWARE of this company as they will "rip you off" if given the chance! I have been in the business for 7 years, and everything that was sent to them was weighed 3 times, x-rayed for karat validity, and inventoried before being shipped via UPS insured with tracking.
They did pay me a partial payment, but ripped me off overall!
