I’ve been a customer at Gelson’s markets for twenty-five years. Gelson’s has always stood for quality products and service.
Yesterday, the Governor of California issued a statewide mask mandate in doors to try to keep the public safe and to combat the COVID 19 virus. This isn’t a new thing. We’ve been schooled in the public health strategies to curb COVID 19 for the last year. That state-wide mandate goes into effect at mid-night tonight. The reasons for the mandate are obvious and the infection rates of the Delta variant are plus 3. That means that for every 1000 people tested and infected there are another 3000 infections occurring. It’s simple math. We are now witnessing another surge in infections.
I went to Gilson’s in studio city today. My local market. Employees were not wearing masks; customers were not wearing masks. It was as if the Governor and state health officials statewide mandate was a joke to Gilson’s management.
I spoke to the manager, Robert, who not only dismissive, but rude when I told him about the mandate. He said, “That doesn’t start until midnight!”
Does Gilson’s not care about the health and safety of its employees and customers? Why wouldn’t your company recognize the threat and begin taking measures immediately to ensure the safety and well-being of its employees and customers by asking people to wear a mask in doors? Why were you not sanitizing carts and implementing the known safety measures we’ve all been living by for the last year? The answer is clear, you don’t care about anything but profits.
You just lost me as a customer… Trader Joe’s here I come.
