Gatorstep did not have the template for my model boat and we had to use their templating process. This was very difficult and frustrating. Basically, they send you a paper template that you have to tape to your boat, make modifications to and send back. It took approximately 8 iterations to get it where it needed to be. The design and QA processes were lacking as some changes to the templates would be implemented while others would not. Sometimes they just sent the previous template back to me with no changes at all as far as I could tell. Additionally, some changes would be made that didn't need to be.
Once we finally got the templates close enough, they cut the decking, added the pattern (teak board) and shipped it to me. I had it installed at a local dealer who is a partner with GS. Upon getting the boat back after installation, we noticed several issues with the pattern. Although the pieces fit, the pattern did not align from the front to the back of the boat and the piece on the bow had the pattern off-centered. I called and sent pictures of the installed decking. The sales person I was on contact with was unable to translate information to the designers correctly. It wasn't until I was able to work with the designer directly that we "resolved" the issue.
They assume responsibility for the pattern issue and have resent the pieces that were incorrect. Unfortunately, the new pieces are cut from a different lot and are a shade lighter than what is installed. I agreed to accept this but the kicker is that they haven't agreed to cover the cost of the removal and installation of the new pieces, which is more costly ($2300) than the entire initial installation because of the difficulty of removing the previously installed pieces. They agree to cover materials, but not materials and labor. Hopefully they will address this correctly but having a hard time even getting a response from them now. Very frustrating and disappointing.
I ordered and paid for a do it yourself template kit on December 19, 2017 to install flooring in my boat . Gator step has taken my templates that took 3 hours to make and have cut final templates completely wrong 4 to 5 different times. Ive literally had to make 5 trips to the marina to test fit only to be disapointed 5 times when they were wrong AGAIN.
Finally in February they had a manager "Mike"get involved to solve the issues and get me the product to finish my floor. He even came to my boat and measured it personally and assured me he would get me the product and it would fit correctly. It has been 4 months and all I have are more templates that are wrong and numerous broken promise. Ive been promised free installation, discounted pricing etc etc .
However after months and months I have no products, no responses and no flooring. Complete waist of time and effort.
Worst experience I have ever had with a product and service.
They are incapable of providing the product and service they are selling.
