After my dezl 580 failed to update the new maps twice with Garmin Express, I contacted support. After a short "chat" I gave them my phone number for a "tech" to contact me to assist with the download. This also failed and the "tech" informed me it was because "MY" drivers were "corrupted" and he needed $49 to fix this problem. Being a past veteran of "techie" rip off schemes I of course said NO.

I tried updating the software on the support site but for "some reason" I couldn't get it to download. Finally I went through the menu on the 580 and saw it was WI FI enabled and would automaticlly update software and maps when connected directly to an internet connection. It took 20 minutes and NO $$$ to update the software and new maps, sooooo.....Beware of Garmin support when they can "fix" your device for a "mere pittance.........

I purchased a GARMIN nuvi 2595 LMT GPS with the guarantee from GARMIN that the unit has a life long map update (support) that is free. On the GARMIN EXPRESS application I have tried multiple time to download road maps etc... with no success.

I subsequently attempted to find a solution to the problem on the internet via forums. I found many frustrated GARMIN customers experiencing the same problem with no solution. I contacted GARMIN who claimed there may be a problem with the operating system on my computer as many others are not having the same problem. After uninstalling & re-installing GARMIN EXPRESS app. & a thorough scan for any virus the problem of map update persisted. I am experiencing no problems with any other application on my computer & is now absolutely certain that GARMIN has blocked all updates in an attempt to make my GPS obsolete...defunct!

This is a serious matter and constitutes serious fraud by a company. GARMIN in their greed for profits and with no fore thought of the consequences has incurred the displeasure of many loyal customers and must be "taken to task"!

On behalf of many GARMIN customers I am seeking your support and help in this matter. I am willing to actively participate in any way to bring this company to justice! I can assure GARMIN (& like many others) I will nver buy another GARMIN product again!!!

I have 3 Garmin products registered. Yesterday I wanted to update my lifetime maps. This is a normal process using Garmin Express. This time I got an error message. I tried several times. Decided to reload the application via the Garmin wed site. Did so. However now Garmin says that Garmin Express is not compatable with my Operating system. I have a HPG60 running Microsoft Vista. It was compatable until now. I do not want a new operaring system nor do I want to buy a new computer just to support their application. They have change their rules from when I purchased the unit. This will become a big issue as people are moving away form computers and laptops towards devices such as iPads and do not want dole out money just for garmin. This morning I emailed via the Garmin web site looking for a solution to support their original agreement (Nov 5 2017)

I purhased a Garmin NUVI 40 LM.

However, when going to update the maps, as the unit suggested, I was told I had to update some things on my computer to be able to continue. I gave control of my screen to the support person, who then typed the names of the things that would need to be done to my computer, in order to update the unit. OK. So, I tell them I will take care it. They ask if I want a 1 2 or 3 year service plan.... what?!!?!?!!. Service plan for a lifetime FREE update?

I said no. At that time the service rep, (still controlling my screen) deleted all the items I would need to do from my screen, leaving me without the abiility to copy those items, and take care of them. Then they tell me the ONLY way to get that information, is to sign up. I say no thanks, and they immediately say "ok, thank you for calling support" or similar, and then hang up on me.

I only purchased this unit as it came with the offer of the free updates.

I will never EVER by or recommend a Garmin product again. Terrible company.

My Garmin Navigation system has not been functional since July. I have been trying to update my in dash Garmin GPS. Garmin customer support says they can't find my unit #. They keep putting me off saying Engineering has to investigate and this may take a long time? I would like to get the maps updated now. Engineering can investigate all it wants; I need my Nav system. I think they are hoping i give up. All they do is delay!! Sent from my iPhone

Downloaded from Garmin's website free software upgrade for my Nuvi 1350 GPS. Downloaded updated software and it installed successfully.

Then purchased North American (US and Canada) map upgrade for $49.95 plus tax for my Nuvi1340 GPS. Only AFTER filling out the credit card form and paying the money, did it say that the map info is too much for the GPS and I have to purchase a memory card or stick! This is a real disservice to customers. I did the software update first so it knew how much memory was remaining and should tell people there is not enough memory before go through all the effort of creating an account, getting a password, and filling out the credit card info.

I even tried downloading just the U.S. portion of the maps, but the options only allow 1/4 of the U.S. (NE, SE, NW, SW)! What a ripoff!

Also I do not understand why the new maps don't simply replace all the existing maps so there will be plenty of room

Have other people experienced this? Is there a way to purchase a real map upgrade from another company besides Garmin that will work on a Garmin? Is there another GPS brand that does not treat people the way Garmin does?
