When the installer put in a new motor for opener about a year ago he put a sticker* nearby, see below for exact sticker wording. So, I figured this would be a good idea to call them, because the door is presently broken. They said they would send somebody this morning (made appointment day before yesterday). Nobody called all morning and technician didn't come. So, I called the 800 number and they said they could come tomorrow, first thing. While speaking with the person in the call center I literally heard a bunch of cheering in the background and then a different guy came on the phone. He said they would come today but only if I would use a coupon to buy a new Guardian garage door opener.
So, not only did they NOT honor their commitment to service the door today but they think I'm so stupid that I'll spend $400 or $500 for a new garage door opener that I may or may not need? This is criminal. These people are con-artists. Do not work with this company.
*The sticker reads:
Garage Door Repairs, 24 hour service - 7 days a week, new opener and garage door installation, Warranty, Garage Door Service, Inc., Denver, 800 220 9051
I suspect they are nationwide company and not just Denver. They put Denver on the sticker to make it look legitimate. I could hear the sounds of a typical call center in the background.
I was having problems with my garage door not operating correctly. It would open with my remote, but not close. I was told that the problem was the safety eyes and I should replace them. I was charged the service call fee to replace them, but that did not alleviate the problem. Instead of the technician taking responsibility for misdiagnosing the problem, I was told I did not give him enough information to diagnose it correctly and I would need to replace the circuit board. At that point, I figured, this was not a good company to deal with. Thankfully, I did not spend hundreds before realizing it. I know I didn't spend 100's of dollars, but when your unemployed, you can't afford to spare much, if anything. Also, when you do call the comapny, they are very sales driven and will try to convince you to buy a new opener. Each time I called, I got a different offer and was treated rudely and condescendingly. They are about the money and not the customer. I decided to go with another company. I hope this will make a difference for someone that may be considering using them.
I really thougt I was received a good deal that was offered through the ValPak coupon for Jimmy's Garage Doors, operating as Garage Door Services. On paper, I saved hundreds of dollars. I had an entire garage door opener installed, meaning, I did not have an old one repaired, but rather, they installed a brand new one.
Within two weeks, the opener had stopped working. I called and a service tech came out and repaired it for no cost. Then, three weeks later, the opener stopped working again. When I called for a service call, I was told I would have to pay the $90 service call fee and I would have to pay for all labor. When I asked to speak to someone that could listen to my reason I didn't think I should pay to service fee, I was put to an answering machine. I called 3 additional times over a one week period. Each time I explained why I felt I should not have to pay the service fee, I was put to the machine. I then started researching this company on-line, and found out a lot of negative infomation about them.
I didn't understand that although the company says "life time warrenty", the service calls are only warrented for 30 days. Also, all labor is only warrented for 30 days. I spent nearly $700 for a new opener and 2 weeks later it broke. Then, 3 weeks later it broke again. When I called the fourth time, and basically begged not to be put to the machine, the service operator read the notes from the first service call. The tech had made a note that I had opened the door manually. He told this to me as if to suggest I had done something wrong. I explained I had to open the door manually, my car was in the garage and the garage door opener stopped working!
I feel taken advance of. I feel this company does NOT care about customer service or providing quality service. I ONLY used this company because of the ValPak coupon. I did not research them, and that is my fault. There are other garage door companies in the area that have a store front and have been in business for years. They do not hide behind an answering machine when a customer is unhappy. I will now call a different company, one of these companies that I have known of for years, and ask them to repair my garage door opener. I don't have a coupon for them, but I feel I'll get honest service.
Bought a new garage door. It had quality issues with the windows and had big gaps where the internal door insulation was exposed in several places. GDS said it was a manufacturer defect and replaced the panel free of charge. The replacement panel had the SAME defects. 8 emails and phone calls later, still no reply or proposed resolution. I requested my case to be escalated, but still, dead silence.
In addition, there is FRAUDULENT advertising. They advertise that they are accredited with the Better Business Bureau. They even have the BBB logo on their invoice, yet a quick lookup on the BBB website shows that this business IS NOT accredited.
Poor quality. Terrible customer service. False advertising. DO NOT use this company. Do what I didn't do and research. You'll find several poor reviews and a D+ rating on the BBB website.
Note that you might have a hard time finding the information. That's because this business goes by a couple of different names and several different phone numbers, which is a red flag when it comes to the quality and reliability.
Do a Google search on one of their phone numbers, 877-469-1416, and you'll see several bad reviews right away.

If this review stops one of you from using this company, then I'll feel that the time I spent on this was worthwhile.
