Foremost Insurance Group Reviews

  • Nov 7, 2023

I have been a member of AARP Foremost insurance for 10 years. On October 2, 2023, I fell and broke my sholder and went into the hospital and rehap for about 33 days. While I was in the hospitel my premiun on two polices were ddue. I made a online payment for poth policies which was accepted.

When I got bsck home from the hospital and rehab I saw a letter from Foremost Insurance which included a check and said the polcy had canceled. I than called Foremost and talked to an agent. He said he could reinstate one of the polices but not the other. Both policies had cancled on the same date yet he said he could only rwrite one of the. He said the one policy that was for a rental home although I own that home he could wriet me a new policy. But the other home I had lived in I could not. He said underwriting rulles said that if a owner has a policy that got cancled for more than 15 days they can't reinstste it.

But that home is not my main resident now since I'm renting it out. So that doesn't make sence,

My elderly mother’s roof has been damaged for over a year due to wind/storm damage. When the damage first occurred, my mother reported the damage to Foremost Insurance Group. Each time an adjuster came to assess the damage, they sided with Foremost Insurance Group. She was informed by the claim adjusters that the leak was not caused by wind but by wear and tear. It has been over a year, I’m sure there are some wear and tear especially if the company refused to fix the damage immediately. Her claims have been denied several times over the years. Now, water is pouring in my mother’s house while Foremost is collecting her money on a monthly basis. If possible, will someone please advise me what I should do about this company?

Hurricane Micheal came through and uplifted some shingles on the roof causing water to enter the home through the ceiling, but the shingles did not work lose enough to be peeled off the roof. On the other end of the home, the rain was driven by wind so hard that it entered the garage which is attached to the home and it flooded the ceiling in one of the rooms in the house and then traveled to other areas.

Our beef is that in the paper policy that we got from Foremost, it did NOT state that the Foremost Insurance would not cover WIND DRIVEN RAIN, but the adjuster did say that it would cover a TORONADO. MIND YOU, I SAID WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE AND HE SPECIFICALLY SAID, "A TORONADO HAS A HOLE IN IT" I just stood there and looked at him and thought he must think I'm about as stupid as I look.

Making a long story short, read your policy well and make sure you have cost replacement coverage because they will weasel their way out of that also.

What they did to us was when we had a pipe leak under the sink and ran into subflooring, ruining the floors, cabinets, etc. The adjuster told us that they would depreciate everythig since the home had some age on it..I told the adjuster we had cost replacement and she said it didn't matter so she did her adjusting and we had to pay out of the bonky to get the kitchen and dining area floor and cabinets replaced.

If we have a Insurance commisioner in NC, he/she needs to audit this company because they are ripping people off.

Speaking of the paper policy Foremeost hands out with all those ENDORCEMENTS; well excuse me, those are only numbers and do not tell what the actual policy states Foremost will pay. They give you a pamphlet that doesn't show what the endorcements coincide with in the pamphlet and then you might get an endorcement in the mail that states to replace that endorcemnt with one to the existing endorcements that you never got that were supposed to be with the policy in the beginning.
