Florida Power & Light Reviews

Florida Power & Light Company FPL Installed a smart meter, known to cause health problems, when I told them not to. When I tried to get them to stay off my property they told me the old meter belonged to them and if I did not surrender it they would take me to court.

This supid meter is aimed right at my son's bed so I covered the meter with the metal cover that others are using to protect their loved ones from the EMF. Someone removed it. They don't care. They said if I put another one back on they will remove it again.

So I called FPL again and was told they removed it because their meter reader has to have access to the meter. I said I thought the smart meter sends the usage information to their office automatically. I was told it does. I repeated then why did someone remove it? They repeated the meter reader removed it so they can have access to read the meter. We repeated the scenario 3 times. What part of the tech's script do they not see contradicts what they are saying?

So I told them to take it out. They said they would charge me a fee to remove it and then an additional monthly fee to have the old meter back. This company is a rip off and at the same time threatening people while they install devices that hurt people.

I never had appliance issues either till they installed the dumb meter. It caused many power surges in my home on days that weather was perfectly sunny and no storm in sight or forcast. One day it blew out my refirgerator, mixer and a medical device. It cost me me $500 to repair the refrigerator, $400 to replace my mixer and $1200 for the medical device.

They will have to answer to God for this and I pray that He does justice to them for what they are doing to my son, me and countless others with their stupid meters. The only way I will be happy with their service is if they replace this dumb thing with the old meter free of charge and do not charge me extra monthly. If they would have left it alone, there would be no reason for extra charges.

I was told to call 1-800-441-9693 to talk to FPL, it is not the real electric company. They threatened to turn off the power. The REAL FPL will make automatic calls, and do not call in person.

Fpl in florida is a joke. In port st lucie even though we have no downed powerlines, no flooding and no trees down fpl has been over 56 hours and still has not responded to outage requests. The app they have you use does not work and the tickets the hive you are full of lies like the crew is at your site when they clearly are not.

The greed of the management of FPL (Florida Power and Light) is well known among its clients, on the one hand they make the policy that the company has low rates, through liars TV ads, and also using as a shield to (The Public Service Commission) to impose Their corporate decisions aimed at getting more money out of their clients' pockets.

The FPL is a mafia that imposes its policies on its customers, this company is protected by (The Public Service Commission) a group of people Unelected, who bend to the orders of the company, a legal spider web that protects the theft to his clients.

How long will this dictatorship be maintained?

How long will the robbery continue?

How long will the greed?

For the last eleven years, I have been having electrical power surges and power loss in my home. At first, every day or every other day. Called FPL regularly to voice my complaints. Gradually, outages were less frequent. Now, the outages are happening at least once a week. Hardly ever due to bad weather. Due to these power outages, I have had to replace 3 pool motors and sensors on my electric garage door that allow it to open and close properly. Just for these repairs, I have spent at least $1500.00.

When, the garage door sensors went out, the repairman put in new sensors and told me to get a surge protector. I asked him why I needed a surge protector for my garage. He said that a power surge had blown out the old sensors. It cost me $231 for the repair and $9 for the surge protector. The day before, there were two power surges. I filed a complaint with FPL. Two of the people I spoke to their verified there were power surges in my area and that I should file a claim. I filed a claim and sent my repair bill. The person in charge of complaints said my complaint was not valid because there was severe weather. The weather was not that severe and regardless, FPL is still responsible for their equipment and its malfunctions. They should keep up with the times and bury their power lines.

I was dissatisfied with my results and contacted the Florida Commission on Utilities. As soon as I contacted them, FPL was all over me trying to "help". They kept calling and telling me that they would fix the problem. They sent a technician to install an electric meter to see what was going on. Another technician called me and said that there was vegetation obstructing the power line and that on June 18th, they would send out a company to trim vegetation. Never sent anyone. Then, they said a new transformer was needed. That would take six weeks. That was never installed because I am stilling having power surges and outages every week.

Since living in this area, I have had a brand new microwave blow, a brand new dishwasher malfunction, 3 pool motors, a dryer blow, sensors replaced on my garage door blow, the list keeps growing. I have heard from many repairmen that my area is prone to have power problems and that they have heard complaints from other people living here. When, I went to buy my surge protector for my garage door, the salesman asked me where I lived. I told him and he said that figures!

All I want is my $231 and for this proble to stop. I can barely pay my FPL bill now without adding their surge protection for an additional $10 a month. If, they were maintaining their equipment and taking care of repairs, I would not need their surge protection. They are responsible for their power lines and equipment. I pay my bill every month. I work 3 jobs just to make ends meet. I have dished out enough money already. Stop passing the buck!!!!!
