Ordered two hoses and two washing machine connectors for a grand total of a little under $100 from their website in early September of 2017. They immediately charged my credit card and failed to deliver anything. This was over 3 months ago. No response of any kind to email or phone calls. Multiple people are reporting the same theft now on bbb.org and google. Just be aware floodchek.com and the owner Steve Vargo are apparently thieves.

Not just apparently

He and his associates are fraudsters who need to be hung. They post bogus reviews to inflate their reputation, but edit out/delete any honest reviews that tell the truth about their scam.

A Believer

I own one set of Floodchek hoses and just bought another.

I am a property insurance adjuster who has handled hundreds of water damage claims in my 20 year career. I can tell you that EVERY kind of washer hose will eventually give, whether it has a braided stainless steel sleeve or not. I have seen them fail time and time again. Insurance subrogation activity against washer hose, toilet and sink supply lines (and all kinds of plumbing parts)manufacturers is a big industry in itself in the US. They are all cheaply made, and that is why manufacturers require that these lines be replaced any time you disturb a plumbing fixture.

Someday, my Floodchek hoses will eventually give out. It's just nature. But I'm sure it will not happen in my lifetime. The one set I have now has been connected and disconnected half a dozen times in the past 10 years and used on more than one machine/home system at varying hot water temperatures. Yet there is not one indication of any pending problems with them.

Plumbers don't like Floodcheks because either they don't understand them or because they reduce service call volume. And by the way, typical washer hoses can handle up to about 150 lbs, not 1500. That 150 lbs is only intermittent, not constant pressure. If the line has hot water running through it regularly it cannot handle 150. Add to that the problem that the stiffening effect of hard, hot water causes to rubber hoses and you have a recipe for sure failure. The most common area for washer hose failure is at the wall valve, where the hose usually bends downward.

Those stainless steel hoses are actually rubber or plastic hoses with a braided metal sleeve around them. I have see the plastic and rubber both fail on these. The stuff gets soft and pokes right up between the braiding over time, usually where it meets the threaded connector. Other times, the threaded connector itself fails.

I recommend that Floodchek come out with supply line hoses for toilets, sinks and other household applications. Between them and PEX tubing I do not think you can ask for a safer system. I also recommend that insurance companies offer premium discounts for homes using this product.

Apparently a Scam

Ordered hoses September 2017, never received them although my credit card was charged immediately. Floodchek did not respond to emails, phone calls go straight to voice mail and are not returned. Supposedly located in Oliver Springs TN but the address is the local Post Office and the local police say they are not a local business.

Do not order!

I bought floodchek hoses with the adaptors for my washing machine. First thing my plumber noticed was there weren't as many threads on the adaptors as there were on the old stainless steel hoses i had on for 12 years with no problems.. Also my plumber mentioned the weight of these hoses were like 5 times heavier and would put a lot of weight and stress pulling down on the plastic pieces coming out of my new washer. He doesnt like to over tighten washer hoses as that could be a problem and because there were less threads on the floodchek adaptors he wasn't going to be responsible for a hose that weighs 5 times as much with less threads to connect to washer and have gravity slowly pull down and over time i have a flood disaster. He is a plumber with 30 years experience and said he never has seen a stainless steel hose break and that they have a 1500 psi burst rating and hardly weigh anything and have lots of threads to go on deep on the washer and thats all he uses and says every plumber he knows only use the stainless steel washing machine hoses and that the floodchek hoses were too heavy and not necessary and is asking for a potential problem down the road by using them. I called and emailed stephen vargo and told me to go to home depot and try and get some thinner washers.. What ?? Right then i knew dealing with stephen vargo was going to be a headache. So my plumber got me some stainless steel washer hoses at lowes with a 1500 psi burst rating and they hardly weigh anything, he put them on and everything is perfect. I then tried contacting floodchek to send these back since they weren't even used thinking it wouldn't be a problem. Now steven vargo from floodchek wont return my calls or emails and i cc'd myself on the emails for proof. So i spent $ 83.00 for hoses that are useless from a rip off artist Stephen vargo) owner of floodchek that only wants to take your hard earned money and will never speak to you again if there is a problem. The easton ss hoses from lowes were $ 25.00 from lowes and work perfect.. Thank god for outscam.com that gives the consumer a voice and can help people so they dont get taken advantage of and lose their hard earned money. I'm a senior citizen and i dont make a lot of money and i cant afford to lose money.

$105.76USD for two washing machine hoses

Was considering the Floodchek hoses, $52.95 for two hoses and two 45 degree adapters seemed a bit expensive, plus $52.81 for shipping to Canada via USPS makes them really expensive. I actively avoid dealing with companies that have poor customer service. Thankyou for exposing these scam artists.

Similar to the other person filing a rip off report, I bought these hoses as insurance to my worries of a burst hose. I was a little worried that the shipping seemed high for regular delivery ($14) and it took over a week to be delivered.

They seem very sturdy and heavy so I installed the cold water hose first. After tightening 1/8 turn, I turned the cold water back on. I was dissapointed to see a leak at the hose bib on the wall outlet. Odd, I used the same amount of force for the previous stainless steel hoses and they did not leak. I turned the hose end to end and re-tightened properly. It was still leaking from the hose bib, not at the washer. So, both ends were incompatible with my supply hose bib, but it sealed fine at the back of washer. No problem I thought, I'll just put the stainless steel hose back on and return these as they are obviously incompatible with my setup.

I had another worry when I tried to use the contact form on their website and kept getting a strange error when submitting the form. So I replied to the email I received when I ordered the hoses. It came back with a Delivery Status Notification (Failure). Uggh. I called their number and got VM, so I left a message. I did a quick Google search and found the previous report which really made me worry. Just then I received a call from them.

I spoke to Stephen and explained the problem I had. He kept interrupting me to see if I followed directions to not overtighten and if I checked the washer was not damaged. Well, yes, I did check and was careful not to overtighten using the same amount of force as the other hoses. Stephen did not care to listen to my reasoning that the hoses just didn't fit my setup for whatever reason. He was very insistent that it was an installer error. When I asked to return the hose, he hesitated and then said - No, they aren't defective. So, even if they did not fit my application and were useless to me, he would not accept a return.

A reputable and honest business should work with you and accept a return if it didn't function correctly.

Still at it

How is this clown still operating? Why hasn't the FBI or an attorney general shut him and his shill websites (floodchek and alterit.com) down? Don't be fooled and don't throw your money away on this asshat...if you did and didn't use a credit card you're out of luck. At least with a credit card you can file for a chargeback.

Floodchek hose’s 5stars

I don’t understand what happened to this company. I have used their hose’s and 45 degree brass fittings for over 10 years with absolutely no problems ever. I moved 3 years ago and was thinking of taking the hose’s with me, but decided to leave them for the new owner because I was leaving the 2 year old appliances. Ordered another set for our new home with 4 angle fittings ( 2 for wall & 2 for back of washer) plus a dozen of their washers, as I used the extra ones for all my outside hose’s. No problem with the order and shipping was quick. That said, I still think these are the finest made hose’s out there, and I told a neighbor about them when he told me he was getting new washer & dryer. When he told me the website was suspended I tried it myself thinking he misspelled the name. I was shocked to finally be led to BBB site and read what was going on. So like I said at the start of this review “I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS COMPANY” But it is a shame whatever happened.

Excellent hoses!

Bought a set of these for a rental property about 4-5 years ago.I am very impressed with the quality of these hoses. I wanted to order another 2 sets recently but their web site doesn't seem to be working. I'm thinking the owner of the business may not be around any more judging by the persons age (owner?) who gave the video presentation of the product.
