I chose the "top" insurance plan my employer offers ($400/MO). They use Flexscripts for the prescription benefit provider.
In a nutshell, I've never (and according to my doctor, she hasn't either) experienced a company put so much effort into not spending a dime towards your medication. Their prior-authorization process is extremely inconsistent, and their "Clinical Pharmacist" breaches every ethical boundary ever established for his profession.
They follow no professional or established protocol when enforcing prior-authorizations. I have a good relationship with my doctor. I also have a good relationship with my pharmacist.
Now a pharmacist who lives 1000 miles away is dictating when and what medications I should be taking, all to keep more money in his and their pockets. Since I spend $400 a month on the insurance, I can't afford the cash value of the medication (even with discount cards and such).
Because of this Company's behvaior I have experienced a definite, acute affect on my health. It's pretty bad when your own doctor calls you personally and says, "Please get a new insurance plan. These are the worst people I ever dealt with."
