As I indicated in my first email, our initial flight was delayed 8 hours in Kitchener making us lose an entire day of our vacation and a day with our son who we hadn’t seen since last year. For a so called discount airline we paid over $4000 for a 2 hour flight for myself, my wife,and 4 kids. That in itself is criminal. During our initial 8 hour delay we were trapped in the aircraft for 2 hours with no food or drinks even offered.
The next 4 hours we were locked in a terminal and offered a bottle of water and a bag of chips-ahoy cookies. Like that’s enough to tide someone over for 6 hours. Meal vouchers to the terminal cafeteria should’ve been offered. Instead I had to pay $80 out of my pocket for a few bagels and drinks for my family. We were constantly lied to about what was happening with the plane and when the new plane would arrive. And our time of departure was changed 4 times making it very difficult to coordinate things on the other end. Travelling with little children is difficult enough, no one needs this added stress. Eventually we did leave and landed 8 hours later than what we should’ve. That in itself should give us a refund of $500/ticket.
On Wednesday we were suppose to leave Halifax at 4:50pm. Throughout the day we received multiple delay notifications and the last had us leaving at 11pm. Great time to be travelling with kids. At about 1:30am finally we were told the plane arrived but we have no pilots because they would go over their legal flight limit.
Pretty sure that could’ve been calculated hours before. Now we have 4 young kids, it’s nearly 2am, and we are left on our own. Every other airline I have flown that has had delays provided me food vouchers and hotel vouchers. Instead the Flair rep couldn’t even tell me where the closest hotel was and said I should sue the company that this is bad. So now I am down hundreds of dollars for hotels and meals that I had to pay out of my own pocket because of your horrible airline.
The reason for the delays all day was weather. The weather was beautiful in Halifax, a little bit of rain earlier in the day. In Ontario it was 12 degrees and sunny. Every other airline was in and out of the Halifax airport all day with no delays. Once again, lied to by Flair.
