I use the car wash in the winter time to remove dirt and salt from my vehicle, I pay a monthly amount for the wash noitced fine hair line scratches in the paint, didn't think anything of it and then got to thinking it might be from the car wash, so on my hood I picked a spot rubbed out the scrathes with rubbing compound and after washing two times the scrstches were back.
Called to cancel my acct and tell them about the problem the response was unexpected the person on the phone calmly said ok. No when did it happen ,were did it happen, I am sorry it happened. Nothing just ok! Not good business ediquette. CHECK YOURE PAINT.
On Friday 3/8/19 at 2:30 p.m. my son drove to Fast Eddie's Car Wash and Oil Change (in Midland next to Pizza Hut) to get an oil change. From there he drove, 2.4 miles home and parked the vehicle. He did not drive the car again until Monday 3/11/19 morning when he needed to go to SVSU for his classes.
On Monday morning 3/11/19 at 8:35 a.m. I got a call no mom ever wants. "Mom, I was driving and the hood flew up and I can't see out of the windshield. I was able to get off the road. I'm Ok. But I can't drive the car, what do I do?" After he and the vehicle were off the highway safely. I immediately went to Fast Eddie's and explained the situation.
The manager on duty seemed very concerned and apologized for this happening. Helped us fill out paperwork, checked their cameras and let us know their procedure. Which was, fill out report of name and what happened. Then they called District Manager to let him know. Please give 48 hours because District Manager, Scott Garcia (works in the Bay City Rd in Saginaw location) and the owner of the Company Matt Letavis will make the final decision as to if they will cover the damage to the vehicle.
I went to 2 dealerships to obtain estimates to repair damage. 6,829.52 and 6,803.53. On Wednesday 3/13/19 at 9:16 a.m. District Manager Scott Garcia called me and said the owner had a few questions. Did I know there was a secondary safety latch on the hood of this vehicle? (Standard on all vehicles) My answer No, because I don't work on my vehicle.
I do not open the hood EVER. And did my son notice the hood wiggle? My answer No, everything was fine, then the hood crashed into the windshield. At this time he said he should have an answer to if they would cover the cost of the vehicle damage by end of day. This morning 3/14/19 at 11:19 a.m. District Manager Scott Garcia called me back.
He proceeded to explain to me they were not going to cover the damage to my the vehicle because there is a secondary safety latch on the hood. I explained to him my insurance company was well versed on the timeline and miles in vehicle and are going to sue him if I claim this on my insurance. I reminded him that this negligence on their part could have KILLED MY SON?
He said he understood but they will not pay for damages. I do have full coverage insurance on this vehicle and will get some money to go towards another vehicle so my son can get to his college classes everyday. And MOST important I am so thankful the Lord above was looking out for him. This situation could have been things I don't want to discuss and won't go there.
WHEN YOU GET YOUR OIL CHANGED ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK YOUR HOOD! Please remember this District Manager and Business owner are saying they are not responsible for this accident. The car traveled approximately 12 miles after the oil change and before the incident happened.
After sitting in the car again after is did the hood wiggle question, you can't see the hood while driving! I believe had they latched the hood properly this would not have happened. I have owned this car 4+ years and never had an issue ever.
