I am a senior citizen on social security so every dollar I spend must be necessary and accounted for. I go to Fareway because it is close to the senior apartment where I live, within walking distance.
On Saturday I purchased a half gallon of milk but was told by wife that it was wrong kind. She could not drink the kind I bought because of food allergies so I decided to exchange it. I could not return it on Sunday because the store does not open on Sunday so I took it back on Monday.
When I got to store I was met by the manager who told me he could not accept it because there was a "state law" that says he could not acept dairy products even though the carton had not been opened. He told me that if I wanted to get what I needed I would have to pay for it. The milk I brought in for exchange, I would just have to throw away. I would have to pay for something I could not use and the store would profit.
So if I had bought milk and when I got it home and it was sour, tough luck. Throw it away and buy more. If I bought meat and got it home and it was bad, throw it away and buy more. In every case, if I buy something from the store and find out I could not eat it or drink it, THE STORE IS NOT AT FAULT. They do not accept responsibility for ANY bad foods. Just throw it away and buy more.
If you bought bread and when you open the package it had mold on it, would you eat it? NO. Could you return it for a refund or exchange it? NO. You can't. The store will not accept it.
This store is the only one I have access to because I have no transportation to go elsewhere. They get hundreds of seniors and low income college students shopping there but I can see that they do not care for their customers.
If you don't like what you bought, JUST THROW IT AWAY, BUY MORE. That's their policy.
