My 75 year old grandma booked a flight through this travel agency called FARECREST. When she called this company "farecrest" they answered the call "Allegiant Airlines" and sounded legit. She was sent an itinerary after booking the flight over the phone. Weeks later she goes to check in the day prior to leaving she found out her ticket had been cancelled. She then calls Allegiant airlines directly and found out that there were no records of this confirmation.
My mother called the company "FARECREST" and some guy with an accent answered and said he would have someone call my grandmother back in 10 mins. My mom then knew this whole thing was a scam. She then looked up reviews for this so called "company" and found many others also had been scammed.
My grandmother just lost her husband of 55 years this year and wanted to go see her sister in Ohio whom she hasn't seen in years. My grandmother was confused, anxious, disappointed and sad that she had been scammed. She decided she didn't want to go anymore because of the stress and hassle of rebooking everything.
So, my mom ended up calling the credit card company to submit a fraudulent claim, called allegiant airlines to make a reservation, advised allegiant airlines what had happened and settled the entire situation one day prior to my grandmother leaving the state. If it had not been for my mother, my grandmother would of been out hundreds of dollars, not been able to reunite with her sister, and would be left even more depressed at home. These people took advantage of a vulnerable woman who was just trying to visit her sister.
