On Oct 10th, I visited the sight of familygokarts.com. Saw prices of the go karts, it said free shipping. So I made a call on Oct 10th 3:51pm and asked some questions. I spoke with Jeff. He stated 5 to 7 days to ship, and that he had a used unit. He sent me a pic. On Oct 11th 10:44am I texted him back stating that I would order a new one online. On Oct 11th, I called in again to their main line and spoke with another rep. I asked her about the ACH instant transfer. She said it would be instant and ship instantly and would have it by Oct 22nd. I called back at 11:10am to ask another question and was told someone would call me back. October 13th, I made the purchase.
Oct 13th, Lisa called and told me that it would take 7 days for the check to clear. I said, well then lets do the credit card payment and add paid rush shipping and CANCEL the check. I gave her my card numbers and she agreed it would be there by the weekend of the 22nd. Friday Oct 14th, I noticed they also deducted money from my bank account. I called, she said they made a mistake, but if I can get her a copy of the check by noon they wrote and filled out, they could guarantee I get it by Oct 22nd.
I addressed the issue that it was submitted for more than agreed to or invoiced. They invoiced and I agree to $2311.80. They wrote the check out for $2581.63. She said shed have to talk to someone about that. I stressed that I needed this unit before Oct 22nd, she said no worries. She also stated there would NOT be free shipping as advertised. I said that wasn't fair. She said I could cancel, but there would be a fee. I was stuck. However, the amount they submitted the check they wrote out on my behalf was not authorized by me.
On Oct 18th. I checked the tracking number Estes (The shipper) had provided. They said it would arrive the week of Oct 24th thru the 28th. They narrowed it down to Oct 27th. I called Family Go Karts and spoke with Jay. He said call Estes and “be nice” and see if they will make it quicker. Estes said they could for $3720.20. I declined and called Family Go Karts back and spoke ith Jeff. They said there was nothing they could do. I said I made the purchase on a promise that I would have it by the 22nd and also voiced my concerns with not being told the truth many times. Jeff claimed they had in fact made mistakes, over charged, and would help in any way.
So I called Estes shipping and had them hold it at their Minneapolis location to be picked up on Oct 21st by an approved carrier. I called Priority Currier to schedule the pick up. I called Jeff back and he said that they would help me with it. On Oct 18th, Jeff left a VM stating something about shipping. So on Oct 19th, I called Jeff back, and he claimed that it was supposed to be delivered the 21st. I told Jeff that I had proof it wasn't and that I needed to do a customer pick up, which on Oct 19th, was reflected. Estes stated that it was scheduled to arrive at their terminal on Oct 20th, to be picked up on the 21st, to be delivered by that Currier the following week Oct 27th.
Jeff failed to acknowledge this. I asked if he would honor the extended 1 year warranty I purchased and he said no. He kept yelling and berating me and was rude and his behavior and demeanor was extremely aggressive. All the calls between me, Family Go karts, and Estes are recorded. He refuses to refund me for the fraudulently written check, the extended warranty and refuses to give me free shipping and give me what I paid for. His reviews also show this behavior is ongoing and other customers have been ripped off.
I purchase this unit and also bought the extra warranty. I was supposed to get 2 quarts of special oil and other stuff but they never sent every thing called 3 times and they told me they was sending it but never got anything also have had 2 thing brake on the UTV and have sent 10 emails back and forth sent pictures they keep giving me the run around saying they couldn't find the parts.
I went on there web site found parts list and pictured parts. I took pictures of the parts they said they couldn't find circled them off there part list on there site and they still insist on my sending more pictures on broken parts saying they could have changed. Too this day I still have not got one part nor oil that I payed for.
Please don't buy anything from this Company, all they care about is selling stuff with no concerns for customer or Warranty, Oh I forgot just a week ago I called in to check on things and Jeff Backer told me he had a lot of static and I should should go out side and crawl up on my roof to get a better signal before I call him back Browns.
I am sitting here with a $2300 brand new go kart that will not start. Family Go Kart will not answer my calls, will not answer messages left, will not answer emails. I have called two numbers for three weeks. I went through their system of leaving support tickets asking for help to no avail. This is just wrong that they are allowed to be in business and take advantage of trusting people.
I purchased their premium warranty extended service, and cannot even talk to a person at the company. There is no excuse for this treatment of their customers and support of the product they sell. I purchased two go karts in three months from them. The first one started, the second would not start and the company will not help in any way.
I bought a new go kart for my son for Christmas upon three first time riding the bearing assembly sheered off. They have not resolved my issue. They keep stalling by continually asking me to verify my address.
They're rude. Unprofessional and are trying to bully me with threats and scare tactics. I want my go cart replaced and I am not willing to pay any more fees period.
On 3/21/ 19 I sent pictures and filed a claim #46459 with familygokarts because the engine I ordered and received from them had a cracked case. The claim was rejected. I notified customer service [Kayla] she told me that my problem was with the engine manufacturer.
I reminded her that my credit card was billed $210.00 by familygokarts/poolfun Browns Valley MN. and according to my records, I bought the engine from them. Kayla responded by hanging up the phone.
In September 2018 I purchased a go kart from Family Go Karts. I received my purchase in a timely manner. Within 24 hours of using the go kart a rim broke. I immediately contacted the company and was told they were aware of the defect and would be sending a new rim. They asked me to send pictures of the broken rim which I did right away within minutes. For over 2 weeks I called and emailed with no reply or call back to let me know when I would get my part. I finally researched the company and called the owner Jeff backer direct. I tried explaining the situation he was so rude he wouldn’t even listen I never even got to explain to him that I had tried for 2 weeks to get a resolution he just kept telling me how great his employee was. The next day I got a phone call back from Mike Fte their technician.
Mike agreed that their communication was bad and apologized we came to an agreement that all trust was lost due to their negligence and I would not be proceeding with their company moving forward. An agreement to return the go kart with no restock fees or shipping fees considering g this was their fault was made. I then started the wait to get my shipping label. It took me a week to get the go kart packaged once I did I emailed the pics as requested and once again no reply this time again for 2 weeks. I contacted the owner once again and received a shipping label the next day. On the shipping label it even showed who the responsible financial party was and that was Jeff Backer. The go kart was finally picked up so no the wait started to see how long it would take for my refund.
I waited and waited and called the company on November 15th I was informed that they did not receive the go kart back. I contacted the shipping company who informed me that was not true and provided me with documentation that the go kart was received November 12, so another call to the owner and I was told they got it November 14th more lies. So I received my refund short $171.81 claiming they took my money for shipping! I have been emailing with the owner who is refusing to give me my money back.
I would never buy anything from this company again! We ordered a go kart last year before Christmas and spoke to someone at the company to make sure it would arrive before Christmas. We were assured that it woud. Not only did it arrive late, but it was the wrong color. We let that go and were happy to have a late present for our children who had been waiting for a week after Christmas for it to arrive.
It required much more assembly than we anticipated and the directions were terrible. After a couple of hours it was ready to go. My children got a few rides in and the belt broke! I was required by the company to send photos and an explanation and they sent out a new belt. Once again, a couple of weeks wait time and poor directions. Looked it up on you tube to fix.
The go kart was always difficult to start and kept dying. Found out we needed to adjust the choke , which was quite difficult. It required quite a bit of disassembly of the go kart. After that, the go kart still died suddenly everytime we tried to use it. I had a couple of mechanic friends take a look at it and they said it was a poorly put together.
The floor of it also rusted terribly after it got a little bit of rain water on it that sat for one night. The company offered to buy me a can of spray paint from WalMart to fix it. The seats rubbed on exposed bolts and got holes in them. The go kart was a piece of junk that was made in China. After numerous emails back and forth (with several pictures sent) we were just not getting the help or service we felt we should and decided to send the go kart back. This was all within the time frame set out by the company. Which I believe was a couple of months.
We were told by Jeff Backer that we would receive a full refund because we had documented everything so well and been in constant contact with them. We would not have to pay the shippping costs. Well, he lied. We paid around $1700 for the go kart and were reimbursed about $1100. We even built an excellent crate to ship it back in.
So, they charged us shipping both ways and a cleaning fee for the go kart being "excessivley dirty". Well, go karts do get driven on dirt tracks, so I'm not sure what they were expecting. We did drive it in the dirt and it did become dirty.
I didn't buy a brand new go kart expecting to have to repair it every time I used it for 15 minutes! Overall, the whole experience was completely disappointing and a giant headache. Don't buy here! Save your hard earned money for another company with better service and complete honesty!
If anyone goes here they are looking for problems. DamagEd cart at Christmas. They will never ever call,just email. They hide behind emails.hang up on you when you try to explain what's wrong and expect you to fix it. they actually told me to glue something back together . I have at least 30 emails back and fourth with Jeff backer and each time I ask him to o call or answer the phone. Still no call or answer. They are con artists,rip offs . Be advised they are looking to Steele your money.
*Purchased a go-kart as a Christmas gift. Received defective tires upon opening the boxes. We had to purchase and was very lucky to find replacements on Christmas Eve. That was the beginning of a plethora of issues. I reached out several times with my issues to NO AVAIL from the company. My son has probably rode the cart about a dozen times in a year because it continuously breaks down. In addition to the cost of the cart, I’ve invested $500 in repairs and needs to go back to a mechanic.*
I understand that stuff happens, but in a Amazon world, consumers expect and deserve resolve. There is NO resolve from this company.
BUYER BEWARE= This company will do and say anything to just the the sale and take your money... I should hvae read the reviews before i purchased from them. If you are reading this, PICK another company as i wish i did, I was snowed by the owners Jeff's seemingly Fake personality when he was dishing out lies. This company is one of the worst i have ever delt with. The customer service is horrific to rectify any problems and I don't have the item yet. Id hate to see what happens when I recieve the item.

At about Dec. 2015 I placed an order for a 50cc scooter to this company. Shortly after I received an email stating I needed to call and verify my check. So, I changed my mind and put in a cancellation. But a day later they cashed my check anyway which over drafted me. My Bank paid the check and charged me $17. I contacted Jeff Backer,the owner and he only asked for proof that they received my check. ******* could have checked his records. Only sent a check about 10 days later. Never acknowledged a mistake on his companies part. Real jerk!
Jeff Backer from Family Go Karts was not truthful from square one. I cannot comment on the quality of the product because it was never delivered. 5 days after my sons birthday and expected delivery date and i had to call my credit card company to dispute the charges because the package was "lost and damaged".
The company was rude and condescending. Pre order they answer the phone promptly then after they take your credit card the phone is always busy.
I cannot stress enough to avoid this company. i made a mistake and did not look at their BBB reviews.
