Facility Innovations Group Reviews
Before working with Facility Innovations Group, I would encourage you to read about the experience I've had while working with them. Everything you'll read below is completely accurate and has not been fabricated. I hope this helps:
I approached the owner at Facility Innovations Group after finding their company information on the local utility companies website as a registered vendor for their commercial lighting rebate program. I had already been familiar with this program and had a list of clients I brought to the table going in. When I first came on board, there was only the owner, operations manager, and around 4 technicians in the field. I immediately saw an opportunity to assist in building a team where all employees loved their jobs and were compensated well for their services. Since April, I referred 3 of my good friends to the company. One to help with sales, a technician, and a very talented office manager. We also hired 15 additional employees to keep up with the amount of contracts we were getting. All of this hard work translated into around a million dollars in sales in an 8 month period, and for the first time ever the company turned a profit...Then, things started to go down hill.
At the rate the company was expanding, they didn't have the most efficient processes in place which translated to the owner creating a authoritarian environment that brought the moral down tremendously. Despite every month hitting record highs in sales for the company, it seemed the owner became more stuck in his ways and spent more time threatening his employees than leading. I've never been one to burn a bridge with a previous employer and take pride in everything I do. From a moral standpoint, I believe that a good leader needs to value their employees and have a solution based approach that solves the issues at hand to serve their customers in the best way possible rather allowing their pride to cloud better judgement. Obviously, being a jerk isn't illegal...However, the breaking point happened when the owner began to violate his own policies and would later violate several employment laws. I had every intention to stay in efforts to resolve the issues at hand and upon getting terminated without any formal explanation or written response that outlined any policies or practices in place. Then things escalated and leader turned into a clear breach of contract.
In short, Facility Innovations has refused to compensate me for more than 70% of income I earned while employed with them. Due to the nature of our business, the sales cycle from signed agreement to completing a job could take 2-4 months. That being said, the company policy states that any account a sales rep has entered in the database would be that representatives alone, and the commission is earned once the customer signs the paperwork. After being terminated, the signed agreements that I've still yet to be paid on date back as far as June. On top of that, the accounts I was working would translate into $600,000-$900,000 in potential projects. As a commission only sales representative, you are compensated for the value and worth that you bring via sales. This policy is very clear in their handbook, and all sales reps understand this. Despite this documentation, both written and verbal, I have yet to receive any compensation for the income that I am owed. The law in Texas is clear regarding final pay in this type of situation(Final Payday Law sec. 61.014 & Business and commerce code Ch 54 54.001-54.004).
As black and white as the law is, I have put forth every effort to resolve this without having to write reviews, get the Texas Workforce Commission involved, have them waste time/legal fees, and avoid the headache all together. The only request I asked for since leaving is to get paid for on the jobs that I was owed by state law. After being ignored and flat out told that I would not get compensated, I continued to remain cordial and reached out to the owner for more than 40 days before filing a wage claim or writing any reviews that might damage their reputation. Obviously, the TWC will resolve this, and by statute the damages that are owed will be triple the amount since they have expressed continuously that they are acting in bad faith and have no intention of paying. However, going through administrative agencies can take around 5-9 months to process, which would put anyone in a bind that was expecting to get paid on the income they already earned. The owner has our commission agreement in my employment offer letter, and I have written and verbal documentation stating that I would be compensated. It puzzles me as to why they want to take this route and it shows the true character in regards to how Facility Innovations Group treats their employees. In my opinion, people create a identity and self worth around the company they work for. I would like to point out that every single employee I met while working with them have been some of the most talented, hard working, honest, and wonderful people I have ever met. However, having a owner guiding the ship that chooses to lie and steal with no remorse for the time, effort, energy, and value put forth in growing the company, I would advise anyone to weigh out all options before considering to work with Facility Innovations. I really do hope the owner will learn a valuable lesson from this situation and become a better leader. In that position, you have peoples lively hood and well being in your hands, which should always come before your own pride.
