My household belongings were picked-up from my previous residence and delivered to a new residence in another state per my request. Prior to pick-up, several emails and phone calls were made to the company owner, Joseph "Joe" Beilharz to ensure that his company was capable of doing the job correctly and was familiar with the proper steps required when taking extra caution with antique and fragile items of which were located at my residence. I was assured that the company and moving personnel would adhere to my requests to take extra caution and would ensure no loss of property or damages would occur. Within less than three hours of arriving for pick-up, I noticed one of my large plastic storage totes containing several fragile items on the side of the curb where the moving truck had been parked. The container was in pieces and the contents were gone completely. I immediately contacted Joe and notified him of the issue.
It was evident that he was not concerned in the least and instead of him calling me directly to discuss as he should have, he had his driver (Mitch) call me to say that he had collected the items when the tote broke as they were loading. Reluctantly, I was left with no other option but to let the company proceed with moving my belongings since everything was already en route to my new location. Next thing I know, Mitch had informed me that there were more items being transported than what Joe had advised and I was charged extra for an undisclosed amount of "extra items" despite me intentionally overestimating the quantity originally to avoid any overage issues.
The situation worsened upon arrival to my new location a few days later when I noticed countless furniture and other items had been severely damaged and many completely useless as a result of the poor care during transport. As I began going through boxes, I noticed several items were completely missing. I immediately contacted Joe to inform him of the issue, and again noticed a complete disregard for my situation. He requested details on the items that were damaged/missing which I provided to the best of my ability. I also included photos to show the damages. A few days later he replied requesting the same info again. At this point I decided it was pointless to continue dealing and I requested the name of his insurance company in order to initiate a claim directly through them. After multiple attempts to request this information from Joe, it was evident that he was avoiding me processing any claim against his company. Several months later after conducting my own research, I discovered the name of the insurance company covering the company. I was informed that the insured (Joe) had a lengthy history of not paying premiums, and had recently been dropped by his previous insurance provider for unknown reasons. Ultimately, I was informed that Joe was working under the false pretense that his company only used one truck to conduct in-state operations despite him engaging regularly in cross-state moves using various trucks that had been rented from other companies.
Beware! This company not only claims to be knowledgeable in moving practices but is also known for engaging in falsifying the actual use of vehicles covered on insurance policies to avoid paying higher premiums. Joe uses a profile on uShip.com to lure customers into using his services, then persuades them to contact him by communicating with him directly to avoid paying fees to uShip thus violating the website terms of use. Furthermore, Joe and his employees assume NO responsibility for items damaged and lost due to their neglect and lack of professionalism. This so-called company should not be allowed to continue doing business and ripping off customers! What a disgraceful company and pathetic method of conducting business. Shame on you and all of your staff Joe!
