I called Expert Pest Management on Thursday, October 18th, and requested service for mole removal and was assured that they could have someone here later in the day on Friday, October 19th. I informed the lady with whom I spoke that I was leaving on Friday morning and would not be returning until very late in the day on Sunday the 21st; but spoke at length with her as to the exact location of the damage (very easy to spot because it is extensive and can CLEARLY be seen as you walk up to the front door of the house). I gave her my credit card number over the phone during that initial call, promised that I would sign any paperwork if necessary after I returned to town, and left with the assurance that I would come home to a mole-free yard.
When I returned in the evening of October 21st, it was obvious that the moles had been hard at work during my absence but Expert Pest Management had not. There was a note on the door stating that I would be charged for a missed appointment. More than slightly annoyed by the complete lack of communication within the company, I called on Monday to reschedule. Even before any service was performed they acted unprofessionally. I guess that should have been my first clue. When one hand does not know what the other one is doing in a business, this raises a red flag. I mistakenly gave them a second chance. Hind site being 20/20, I should have put a stop to everything then and there because, NOT A SINGLE MOLE WAS HARMED DURING THIS ENTIRE FIASCO. I was lead to believe that this was going to be a rather simple and straightforward procedure.
The next appointment was set for October 23rd. During the initial conversation I had with the employee of Expert Pest Management I was informed that traps would be set and that they would be checked in 5 to 7 days. The employee of Expert Pest Management set only two traps and informed me that all of this damage that I have here was the work of only one or possibly two moles. (Wow, these things must be super-moles who never sleep.) Over the course of the next several weeks the traps were moved once, 16 days later with NO success I might add, but still plenty of additional damage occurring.
The last service call was on November 14th. The invoice stated that the traps had been removed, the tunnels baited, and that the service was completed. So, what did I pay over $300.00 for? I would have been further ahead to stand outside at night with a sledge hammer and a flashlight. Expert Pest Managements ad states that, “our customer satisfaction is our first priority!” Well I’m not satisfied, as a matter of fact, I’m very angry. Considering the ongoing damage while Expert Pest Management was mucking about instead of fixing the problem, I will incur additional costs for landscaping fees in the spring and still have to pay for another company to do the job correctly. When I contracted Expert Pest Management, I expected to receive expert service from someone with over 40 years experience and fully trained, licensed professionals (according to their ad).
I sent a letter to Expert Pest Management on November 26th of 2018, informing them of my disappointment due to their lack of customer service and have never received a reply from them.
Expert Pest Managements advertizement in the Erie phone book is misleading. Despite all three phone numbers listed in the advertizement being local numbers and the general tone of the ad being a local family owned business, this company is located in Boardman, Ohio, which is approximately 63 miles from here. They supposedly service Northeastern Ohio, West Virginia, and Western Pennsylvania.
