Buyer beware of Experience Sales (and probably any door to door sale!)
A young man came to my front door in the evening, posing as a neighbor and local college student.
The story was that he was selling magazine subscriptions for a trip to London to do internship work with the BBC
In looking at the situation now, there were so many redflags .... including the internship story ... yet somehow I did fall for his story
After he left I looked up the company, Experience Sales. I discovered that their format is to hire independent contractors and send them all over the country selling magazine subscriptions. "Zach" could not have been a neighbor and local college student. I also discovered many complaints against this company.
Buyer beware .... I certainly should have taken my time and researched before making a purchase!!
But .... I purchased 3 magazine subscriptions. I was overcharged (the total I was charged was more than the amounts listed on the receipt).
Also, the prices were outrageous for magazine subscriptions. I should have realized this at the time of the sale, but I didnt.
Yes, my bad on that ... but "Zach" was not ethical in the sales experience.
The salesman ("Zach") did not put his name on the sales receipt. I have contacted the company online via their contact page. I have mailed back the form to cancel the sales. It requires cancellation within 3 days ... the company is in AZ. I am in FL ....yet another fishy aspect.
There is no phone number on the receipt or the website.
There was a phone number listed on BBB website. I will call that and see.
In addition, the sales person was awfully flattering/flirtatious. .... and I mean awful .... horrible lines .... even asking several times for a hug at the end and asking when he could return for a candle lit dinner. Perhaps that approach works with some people. I found it awful. Yes, I did fall for the magazine sales (because I foolishly believed he was a college student and I wanted to help out... (not because of his awful lines) .... and I did not research the business before purchasing).
No professional sales person in their twenties should be hitting on a middle aged mother .... such disrespect.
No professional person of any age should hit on anyone actually !! His behavior was truly harrassing .... again, in retrospect I should have given him the boot before making any purchases.... but I didnt want to be disrespectful ... foolish me. Even after the sales he kept talking .... I finally had to shoo him away.
Please Please .... buyer beware of this company!!!!
I was sold some children's books in early novemeber 2016 from a door-to-door salesman. When i did not recieve the books on a timely basis (6 wks) i looked the company up on the internet. I did find them, but i also found a customer complaint on Outscam.com. The story that the salesman provided sounded very similiar to the one he gave me! pretty sure i just got ripped off - the check i wrote was cashed many weeks ago!
Today, on 8-11-2016, a young man came to our door asking for funds to help him pay for a school soccer trip to Ireland. He sais he needed $61, which we gave him in cash. But the receipt he left us stated the product was childrens books and the customer was not us but a hospital in Denver, Colorado. He said his name was Daniel Ferris.
