I entered the Hong Kong auction when Ruben assured me that they sell 100% of the diamonds they bring to auction. I was told that my diamond was sold and someone would be contacting me for payment once the funds arrived. The call never came. I called Ruben almost every day for months just to get a reply that 'we never said it sold, you must have misunderstood' then later I got a different excuse saying that they had issues with the auctioneer and were going to list it in the next auction. That came and went and they said the same things again. I could only get a response when I threatened to blast them on twitter unless I got a reply. Ruben called personally and said his support staff was supposed to follow up. I routinely ask the receptionist random stuff about Ruben and my situation and I'm sure she's told to keep her mouth shut. His support staff never called, even after at least a month went by. I then received a new email saying that there was another auction coming up and I would have to pay to be reentered to that. Same amount which was thousands of dollars in advance. I asked for my stone back and still had to chase them a month later after they acknowledged my email. I am not even convinced that my stone made it to Hong Kong. I think they just keep the auction fees and don't even try to sell the stones. Then when you are at your breaking point they might give it back to you less the fees.
Same Crap as I experienced -- total scam - a bunch of con artists
Sounds like exactly the same thing I experienced -- send them money to enter an auction, then no result. Send them more money for another auction -- no thanks. I send them a stone, had it set in a ring -- and thankfully, I managed to get it back.
I actually visited these guys in their offices -- they seem nice enough -- but are total bullshit artists.
Excuses, Excuses, Excuses. These guys are obvious con artists and say goodbye to your $$ if you give them anything. I'm settling my late father's estate and Reuben Ross is doing absolutely nothing about the goods he "sold" to him.
They targeted a senior, took his money, charged him more to auction and have provided ZERO results. I have my lawyer, a CBC reporter and local TV consumer report reporter looking into this and I only hope that other seniors do not get scammed by this telemarketing scheme.
Reuben Ross was previously charged by the FTC for being an as*hole and scamming people... this is just his new scheme to rip off people. DO NOT GIVE THEM MONEY.
I WISH THEY HAD LESS THAN ONE STAR TO RATE THEM. THESE PEOPLE ARE COMPLETELY RACKING UP LOTS OF BAD KARMA AND WILL EVENTUALLY HARM THEMSELVES AS THEY HAVE STOLEM FROM OTHERS. THEY ARE NOT WORTH THE SPIT ON THE BOTTOM OF MY SHOES.
I have dealt with all of them. David Beckler, Reuben Ross, et al. They are all con men and deserve to be in jail. The preceding reviews represent their M. O. completely and accurately. DO NOT put your hard earned money in their hands. For those who have been scammed already, David Beckler lives in Toronto and Reuben Ross lives in Montreal. They are real people, both with extensive rap sheets for these types of scams.
Apparently all diamond dealers in Canada are scammers. I am going to an elder law lawyer to follow through on this because I am getting no response from the salesperson for an entire year - and now I am desperate for the sale of the items I (supposedly) purchased I have requested that the diamonds be sold at an auction that was coming up - even needed to pay for the fee to enter the auction. When I read the online description of their marketing - that it is "done by a world-class processing team, arranging shipments as quickly and efficiently as possible" - That is NOT what has happened. When I wanted to view my holdings, I was told to request a login and password provided by their administrative team to follow the results. So, I spoke with someone else and he said they would call back the next day with that. NO call back. NO way to view holdings. NO sales. This company can put up a website - but it is just a BIG scam! Why can't Canadian government call them out on this - or the RCMP?
I have had the same thing happen to me with Steve and Ruben, sent money to sell diamonds then they fall off the earth, at least I till have my diamonds. Now I just got an email from Jesse the President say there is a new plan it is called FRESH START REMARKETING. He is saying sorry for what has happened and that they will make it right by sending them more money and it will all be good.
THEY ARE THE BIGGEST CROOKS EVER AND NEED TO BE DESOLVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PERMANENTLY!!
My story is the same as the others. First contacted by David Beckler and told the Hong Kong auction was the place to auction my diamond. Paid the auction fees, but no sale. After contacting Excalibur, Rueben emailed back that someone would be in contact with me. That was several months ago, and have heard nothing. Will continue to follow up, but by the other postings sounds hopeless.
My husband bought a diamond in 2012 through Genesis Diamonds. It's an argyle pink from Australia
Fast forward a few years and cold call from Mr. Ross and he wants to put it an a auction. Paid $2500 to do so
My husband chased him for months. No sale he was told. Then Mr. Ross apparently convinced my husband to put it into a 'ring' in spring of 2019, to be sold in the Hong Kong auction
In May he was told that it sold for $75,000 US. Awesome right? He chased him for weeks....the wire was sent to the wrong bank account, then their computers were down and they sent it Fed Ex. But the money never arrived
Finally he was told by "Jeff" that Reuben quit. My husband asked for the diamond to be returned. I found it in a drawer this morning, in the form of a ring, that he spent $5000 to get the stone set etc. LOL!!!!
I was told they were going to sell my Diamond in a auction and then said it didn’t sell. I was then called and told if put in a ring that he could sell my Diamond for top dollar. I said I wouldn’t give him anymore money. I’m waiting for my Diamonds to come back via UPS. Don’t anyone buy anything from these guy’s
They contacted me re selling my items. I have no idea how they knew I owned these items. An auction was to take place in Hong Kong through Richie Bros in the spring of 2017. Prices were not what as good as expected so they started entering other auctions or so I was told. This was all handled by David Beckler until later in 2018. It was around this time I began having problems contacting him. Apparently he developed some health issues.
Eventually Rueben Ross contacted me by phone in March of 2019 telling me he had one of my items sold but we had to act fast to build a ring by Apr 1/19. Of course this required my sending more money. According to Rueben, the sale has been completed and paid. Three weeks ago I was simply waiting for the foreign currency to clear the bank ( in 5 to 7 business days). Still have NOT received my money and nobody is returning my calls!!
As of this morning I have a new contact, Jeffery Kushner. apparently he is Ruebens supervisor. Two phone calls later I still haven't had a return call from him either.
We were to receive a bank wire weeks ago. Then they got the banking information wrong, and they resent it. Then that fell through somehow and they were going yo put a cheque in the mail via Fed Ex
Ditto for me as well. You will be best to call RCMP fraud division and as I will. These people must be stopped! You won't be told the truth plus probably lose you your diamond.
I just saw all these reviews about Excalibur Royale and I am sorry that I handed them my stone to sell.
Ruben promised that he had a buyer waiting and the deal would be done within a month. That was beginning of June 2019. Almost 3 weeks and a few thousand dollars later I cannot get hold of Ruben or even get through to any one. I have left numerous phone and email messages - - no response. My battle now would be to get my stone back but with no response I do not how that will turn out. I guess I will have to inform the OPP.
This company is a scam and Ruben Ross (if that is his name) is a criminal.
I had a diamond that he said he could sell if he put it in ring, I paid to make it into ring and he told me he sold it. He stole my diamond and the ring
part 1: they totally overvalue the stones, do not volunteer any supporting references and info for the pricing. What is very clear is that the valuation is driven by their 10% upfront fee that is based on the reserve price. That is also helped by human nature that turns euphoric about the high valuations they propose and in a way promise. I had a stone valued by them at 20k that later on from another dealer was valued at 5k!
part 2: unless you have the time and cash to go to these auctions there is no guarantee and verification that these stones are offered where they were promised. What you see is their website, cheap to make and maintain, no guarantee any sort of clientele is actually looking and buying. All you have is their word, references if you are lucky they may provide can be paid-of or staged
part 3: assume all Canadian diamond dealers are scammers. I have now dealt with 4 of them and you will be always screwed, it is a one way deal and there is no unbiased platform (such as a stock market) to verify pricing whether you are buying or selling
part 4: Can BBB is worthless certainly means little and clearly has no credibility, or they filter strongly in favor of the Can dealers
part 5: I have not come across any deal any dealer based in Canada will offer that has not cash flowing in their direction. A twist on a Ponzi scheme. It rung alarm bell much too late on my end.
part 6: you individual "investor" will always carry all risk!!! When you buy your money first, if you want to sell the stone to them first!!!
part 7: The Canadian diamond market simply has no decent regulations and govt oversight, so they can get away with it. Now you can can stop wondering why there is not such business out of the US!
part 8: there is little legal recourse that not quickly exceeds the cost and value you feel having been scammed for. Notice how most communication is over the phone and how little they will communicate in writing!?
These guys are weasels. iI have some in text from Reuben in regards to funds and payments being made. I even went down with my wife to toronto to his office because he had the funds available to pick up. I got there, he showed me what had sold on paper and the values, but the funds had not arrived yet. He said sit tight it will be there tomorrow. This was 6 weeks ago and nothing has happened
We have to bring these guys down and get our fees back
Have you dealt with Canadian Diamond Exchange CDX as of yet?
