Etsy, Inc. Reviews

  • Nov 22, 2022

Having made a $14,700 (pre-tax) purchase in April of a semi-precious gemstone from an Etsy Swiss-based seller, Etsy proceeded to charge me $1,140 as well to cover presumed Connecticut sales taxes. The package never made it to me, whether due to seller fraud or Swiss Post incompetence I still don't know. I recently called Etsy and was told that the company has no obligation to refund me the money it (not the seller) took for taxes that never were paid since my request to them came more than 90 days after the date of sale, during which time the seller was still making excuses to me. (I was later in the year defrauded by an Etsy seller; Etsy refused so much as to contact the seller, let alone seek to compel his performance.)

This is a company absolutely to be avoided for any purchases that are more than trivial in amount.

Have been a good Seller with ETSY over many years. Their Customer Service is abominal!. Wait extensive time for a representative, and typically listen and need to transer you since the rep is not trained well on their operating software.

The software itself is very old, written by poor programmers who have long left the scene. Many areas of the software were not completed, so when you try and use them. They fail. Then the rep stumbles about trying to fix the issue, often just crediting your account pennies for the bad software. Years later, no repairs to the software, no training of the reps how to manage.

Expect long telephone waits. Expect zero call back if you opt for that feature, times out in about an hour.

Problem is they have one of the worst HOLD music selections ever heard. Have received numerous complaints, but they cannot replace it. Yet they can overlay ETSY ads on the bad hold music, so someone at ETSY knows how to modify the hold, but does not respect the fact that the bad music is one of the many complaints about their obsolete software.

While they provide a minimal platform, it has slid downhill for the added sales and volume. Remember the early days of Ebay? Finially, Ebay installed new software, written by better programers, and regained a little of their reputation.

ETSY is suffering the same. Minimal original, low volume software. Increase in activity, now exceeding the limits it was designed to handle. Have notified about 5 different error/uncompleted areas and the rep says they will pass it on. But nothing every becomes of the problem.

Zero/nil/nada customer service to the Selller. Cannot image had they mistreat the Buyer. ETSY's failure to handle their problems will lead to the demise of their company. Last week, (8/20/2021), Etsy call is was effectively down for serveral days. No Call Backs, No Help, just NO customer service.

Thinking of opening as ETSY store?? LOOK elsewhere, ETSY is a dinasaur waiting for extinction.

WARNG: Etsy.com is running rogue on a Commie Cancel Culture Agenda Operating With Extreme Prejudice! We did nothing wrong, yet after several years of providing unmatched buyer satisfaction / stellar; recently I believe for political reasons we got mistreated horribly with extreme prejudice by Etsy.com. Reality is we have a stellar 5 star seller account until our office of the Presidency ultimately got illegally stolen by Commies, I.e. DNC/CCP/Covid-19 Pysops... Etsy has engaged themselves as enemies of this Country and are in my opinion Anti-American!

They allow and encourage IP theft, bolstering copycat commies to operate phoney counterfeit stores, Etsy culture gone wild! It is my opinion that they have a backward agenda to terminate all known conservative / republican seller accounts, especially if successful as they resent you if you grow big, they prefer to have a stranglehold on their sellers as they are forced to advertise for Etsy first, making it next to impossible to own your own brand name or have direct access to your customer base, upon which that you have worked extremely hard to earn trust with, WTH... They advertise themselves as loving, and uniquely understanding, super compassionate.

It is only the Sellers who create and support any Buyer on Etsy; it's the stellar sellers who support Etsy, yet Etsy failed to support us. They are an abhorrent double standard that only resonates within leftist mindsets of dishonorable criminal conduct; the more who do so, the more the merrier... So nothing could be further from the truth as Etsy has demonstrated extreme prejudice and or discrimination? They are caught red handed working as Commies! It is my experienced opinion that they are not loving or caring, and certainly not understanding, they certainly are nor an honorable law abiding company, hell they don't even offer Seller support unless you are one of them! For they have engaged in a self-centered Cancel Culture of extreme hatred; discriminating against us with extreme prejudice, these leftists are acting out like Nazis against anyone that they feel doesn't share their culture.

My Wife did nothing wrong and provided the very best support, 5 Stars! Obviously Etsy feels threatened by banning any truth seeking honorable people... Said happened once Etsy Inc. found out by probing us that we were Conservative Constitutionalists; I simply liked some items in stores that were prop / traps! They executed unwarrantedly without due process of any fair notice, not just suspensions with support but rather permanent termination of our seller accounts; I consider this an internet act of cyber-warfare!

I strongly advise anyone to stay away from Etsy.com as they have demonstrated that they are a n**i embraced leftist marxist commie community, if you are not in on it, actively seeking and reporting on others as a n**i, they will sting you, defile and defraud you! Etsy Sucks! There Exist Far Better Means To Market Goods of Real Value. I feel compelled to merely warn others so they do not fall prey and victimized or to get baited and lured into their trap! This is all based on their demonstrated / proven reality, unfortunately so forming our experienced opinions as victimized professionals. Sincerely, CT

I have ordered from Etsy before and their customer service is a JOKE, there is no way to contact anyone when vendors rip buyers off!!! The website goes in cirlces on the "help" page.

Sticker Fool.Com has bad some bad reviews which I didn't notice before, but I have emailed several times and no one will answer me. It shows my item was shipped but there is no tracking number, there was a number now its gone, which is strange.

It's obvious this person is ripping people off.

I ordered 3 Nintendo Switch consoles for my grandkids' birthdays. I was given fake tracking numbers on two different occations and received nothing. I tried several ways to get a refund with no luck. These people will take your money and laugh about it.

I ordered a ring through Etsy for $1,450. That Etsy ordered was never delivered/received. I opened a case with Etsy. The seller provided delivery "confirmation" did not include a signature (which was required by the seller) and there was a picture but that picture didn't show any apartment number. Etsy did not reach out to me but simply closed the case as "delivered." I reached out to DHL myself, explained what happened and received confirmation (in writing) that DHL deemed the package as lost.

DHL then informed me that only the seller could file an insurance claim. Because Etsy closed the case - the seller is not responding to me and refusing to file a claim, replace the ring and/or refund my money. I have asked Etsy to reopen the claim to put pressure on them. They told me are unwilling to reopen the claim and I should deal with this through PayPal - which I am.

The reality of this is - Etsy erroneously closed the claim, therefore, laying the foundation for their seller to refusing to help me. It would be quite simple for them to reopen it - it costs them nothing and helps their customer.

I ordered a fur head wrap. Never received it. I contacted the supplier in February who said it was shipped. I have a letter from the post office that it was returned because no one was available to sign. Seller says there is nothing he can do. Can't leave a review or file a complaint with Etsy. I don't have hard earned money to waste. Never again will I order through them. They are hands off.

  • Apr 12, 2020

On April 4th I purchased 6 cloth face masks at a total cost of $30.00. I paid and extra $9.00 for 3 Day Shipping but I have yet to receive any merchandise or a refund for the purchase as requested in writing and it has been 9 days. When I contacted Etsy.com via email, they said they would contact me with 24-48 hours but that hasn't either.

Clearly this is a scam to take advantage of people during a very disturbing time in the world with COVID-19.

Caveat Emptor!! Buyer Beware of Etsy's Fraudulent Scams!

I discovered that the moldavite piece I bought from Dave was fake and emailed him the following email...

Hi Dave, I have question for you. Four years ago I bought a piece of moldavite. I suspected that it's fake because I could never feel any energy from it. it's just a dead, energyless rock. So yesterday I go to rewrap the stone and in the process a tiny, insignificant piece chipped off. I was like "oh, I can see inside it." So I take a flashlight and take a look inside. "Hmmm." So I look up how to spot a fake because of my intuitive suspicion. Fakes have no inclusions.

This moldavite has no inclusions. It's glass. My suspicions were confirmed (no energy, no inclusions). I've owned a previous moldavite and that had serious pulsing of energy in my hand but this has nothing. I realize jewelry makers can be conned by gem suppliers so I I'm not judging or anything. I'd just like to right a wrong, if you don't mind. I'd like to know if I can have my money back, please. Thank you.

Dave's response...

Sorry, but no. A- I know the provenance on all my moldavite and it's all real. B- You had the opportunity to return it 4 years ago if you thought it was fake. C- You broke a pristine piece of moldavite trying to wrap it in a single piece of wire, something I advised against 4 years ago....cutting its value in half. D- It is almost impossible to see the lechatelierite inclusions if the piece isn't polished, but I can assure you, they are there. I have dealt tens of kilos of moldavite and I know them very well. Dave

No con artist will admit to selling fake moldavite. He only tells me he deals in tens of kilos of fake moldavite.

He complains that by chipping the piece I "cut the value (of the piece) in half". It's a piece of glass. It never had any value to begin with!

Etsy has a review policy that you can only give a review within 100 days of purchase. So if anyone discovers that they've been conned, they can't give a review, which means Etsy reviews are meaningless and Etsy protects con artists.

Here is a copy of the report I sent to my credit card company. Hopefully they can help me out.

What did you purchase and why did you decide to return and cancel?

The item purchased was a “swim wig” for women with hair loss (in my case, permanent hair loss due to cancer treatment). The swim wig arrived and is not what is advertised. Due to its poor design, the “swim wig” is painful to wear out of the water, and if worn at a comfortable fit, easily detaches itself – thus is defective.

(Since my email exchanges with the seller, I have tried swimming with the wig twice, and each time it detached itself from my head in public, which was extremely humiliating).

This defective item is supposed to be custom made but it does not fit me properly because of the reasons listed above.

What date did you receive the service/merchandise?

04/25/2019

Did you cancel or return the merchandise?

I have contacted the seller to proceed with a return and we have engaged in dialogue over email but she refuses to acknowledge any flaws in her defective product or the fact that it isn’t custom made for me, as advertised. She refuses to accept a return.

Method of cancellation or return: Have attempted to return the merchandise but to no avail.

Did the merchant provide the cancellation or return policy when you made the purchase?

Yes.

If yes, what was the policy?

The seller will accept returns and exchanges if the item arrives damaged or defective.

Did the merchant accept the cancellation or return? No.

Name of the merchant/point of contact: Christine Heinen

I orderd from Etsy a bag from a person called LoverofLuxe . The website did not require a phone nimber when you order. But, i talked with LoverofLuxe to put my phone number with the item. When the item arrived to Saudi Arabia, the local post turned it back to London because there is no phone number with the item. I talked to the shop and he did not respond. I did not receive my money or my order. LoverofLuxe website: https://www.loverofluxe.com

This is a cautionary tale against making online purchases of expensive items such as high end jewelry, etc.

Websites such as craigslist, letgo, and etsy.com are magnets for criminals and illegal activity. The owners/operators of these sites throw up their hands and claim immunity to the crimes committed against unsuspecting buyers of merchandise peddled by their vendors. It's all about money and the amount made off these vendors. As such, etsy.com could care less whether or not you are scammed. Additionally, etsy.com will trick you into believing that you will get your money back. It happened to me.

Etsy.com will in fact, scam you. It is true that etsy.com functions as a medium much like craigslist. However, more often than not etsy will side with their vendor when a case is opened due to fraud or misrepresentation.

I was scammed into buying a fake David Yurman ring in which the seller had refurbished, however conveniently failed to disclose this in his listing. He even used fake pictures and when I received the ring, it did not look like the ring posted.

Beware of etsy, stay away from the website, and if you do get scammed, file a report with the attorney general in your state as well as file a purchase dispute with your bank.

I ordered from Hello Little Joys via etsy in January. It's now nearly April and I've yet to receive my items. I contacted the owner via Etsy and via the email provided on their Instagram @HelloLittleJoys and did not hear back. I find it sketchy how they don't list their full names or location nor do they have a business website. I located their products on Aliexpress and can confirm that they are indeed resellers. I can as well confirm that they are thieves and scammers seeing as I have not received my item. Beware of Hello Little joys!

This company use to go by the name boomer2563. They have other outscam under that dba name. Now they changed their business name due to fraud. Now they go by the name weirdandwild on etsy.com. They still are taking people's money, and not sending people their online orders. Etsy.com is a great place. But this fraud company "weirdandwild" has a terrible reputation of online scams at their fake taxidermy!!! don't pay them. They will continue to steal!!! period.

The psychics listed in the title of this report have all contributed to giving out misleading information that has caused emotional and financial suffering. People, including myself, have spent hundreds of dollars for readings and energy clearings, all with the claim that their "Twin Flame" will be coming back to them. They give out predictions of dates that do not come to pass, and in turn, will offer some sort of service to help bring their "Twin Flame" back. And for those of us who have not spent money on clearings, we have spent money purchasing back-to-back readings with the false hope that we're nearing the much anticipated return of the "Twin Flame" who is actually not coming back. They are fraudulent readers who will tell you what you want to hear, and their predictions are far from the truth. Buyer beware!

Miko Stokes of Mood Selection Clothing aka Loko Street Clothing ordered 500 custom woven clothing labels on July 12 for his clothing line. On July 15 he asked us to upgrade him to RUSH status because he did not want to wait 3-4 weeks. (see email attached asking us for RUSH service). We then paid our supplier the rush fee, after charging Miko Stokes the $50. that he asked us to do on July 12.

On July 20, he received (and signed for) his custom labels exactly 5 business days later USPS priority mail tracking number 941081189956222702762.

On July 22, Miko Stokes pulled a charge back and the $50. rush fee was taken from our account. When confronted, he states "it was a mistake" and that the funds would be returned within 12 hours.

He gave us another credit card to use but it was fake, as we checked with our bank.

A thousand more lies later plus 2 weeks later, still no money returned but guess what happened??? ANOTHER CHARGEBACK!!- This time for the actual labels with s/h totalling $107.05.

When we discovered the money had been taken from our account (again) on August 10, we decided on a new approach to catch him in yet more lies and to show proof of fraud. We sent him an email asking if he liked the labels that he did receive. His answer: "Yes extremely". BUSTED AGAIN, MIKO STOKES!!! (See photo of email attached for this)

Now, as if this were not enough proof, we found photos of his clothing on Instagram and ETSY, where our labels are showing. BUSTED AGAIN, MIKO STOKES!! See pics attached. These will also be used to show fraud to the postal inspector and the bank.

Please BEWARE of Miko Stokes fro Fullerton, CA. Do not sell anything to him or buy anything anything related to Mood Selection Clothing or Loko Street Clothing.

This man is not only a thief, liar and con-artist, but also a STUPID one!!

I had been looking for a small round coffee table for a long time and found an Etsy vendor who had a few things that met my needs so I communicated with the owner of the shop about a custom order to a particular size, with a distressed wood top and industrial legs. I went to Home Depot and got the color of the stain to use and the Rustoleum spray paint for the base. When he sent me a picture of the top, it was waaaaay too much stain. He said it was the color I'd picked. But it didn't look distressed, it looked stained. He said he fixed it, then shipped it before sending me another picture. When I got it it looked like it had in the picture. Waaaaay too much color. I contacted him and asked him to find out what I might do to make it better.

It took him two weeks of excuses about grandkids and waiting for information on what to do. I contacted him again and he said he'd used the color I asked, and he would only charge me $100 to fix it if I'd send it back to him (I'd pay for shipping).

It took me another few weeks to get up the nerve to just put the thing together, and when I opened up the box of the pedestal, it was the wrong color. I messaged him again just now; he sent me a picture of a Rustoleum can; I sent him a picture of the pedestal pieces which looked nothing like the top of the Rustoleum can. That can of paint had nothing to do with my table base. Some people lie as an excuse for their inability to admit they're wrong. And he keeps telling me he only did what I asked him to.
