on Mar 23 2018 I participated in an on line action with this company (aka Altair auction) I won 3 lots or itms, lot #42 $25.00 lot #432 $37.00 and lot #522 $35.00 there was a 25% commission on the prices I listed . I did not receive lot #522 at a total price of $43.75 . when I won these lots I was told a third party would ship the pieces a month later I received the pieces but lot # 522 was not included and there was a pre printed note with a fill in section stating that some thing was missing from my package and to contact the auction house. I did and the auctioneer said it was a third party shipper come to find its their own in house shipping at an outrageous shipping fee ( I have since gotten a partial refund on that over charge) THE ISSUE IS THEY ARE THE SAME PEOPLE IN THE SAME LOCATION BUT THE AUCTION HOUSE NEVER BOTHERED TO INFORM ME SOMETHING WAS MISSING . I have not recieved a refund on the missing lot .
seems to be a scam why do they claim not to self ship though they advertise that they do , why do they have a pre printed "missing itm form " to inclose in a package I get packages daily and have never gotten a note that something was missing .
I won a medal in a small 4" x 5" presentation case through the Invaluable website on the Essex June 14 Auction. The website gives no shipping options.
I then got an invoice from Altair Auctions with the following shipping info;
WE DO NOT PROVIDE SHIIPPING.
FOR SHIPPING PLEASE…….LOOK FOR AN EMAIL QUOTE FROM : [email protected] after you have paid for your winning lots.
WE DO REQUEST A THIRD PARTY SHIPPER SWIFT NORWOOD SHIPPING TO SEND YOU A SHIPPING QUOTE IF YOU CHOOSE TO APPROVE THE SHIPPING QUOTE BY EMAIL THEN YOUR WINNING LOTS WILL BE SHIPPED TO YOU.
IF YOU DO NOT OPEN AND APPROVE THE SHIPPING QUOTE EMAIL FROM THE THIRD PARTY SHIPPER YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE YOUR PAID FOR LOTS.
This shipping company is of course owned by the parent company of Essex so they in effect force you to use their shipper and charge unreasonable rates that you cannot dispute as I tried unsuccessfully to do. The shipper, Mike ,must be a relative of owner of Essex, Altair, Mr. Benjamin Wang. Mike eas nearly impossible to understand his English was so bad.
So, I got a shipping quote of $27.50 which is a total ripoff but unless I approve the quote and pay they will keep my auction win that I paid $66,00 for.
I recently won an auction on Auction Zip by an auction house called Essex Auction and Estate Services. The auction was for 3 photographs that were $10. The auction house refused to quote shipping until I paid the auction. Once I paid for the item they quoted me a price of $39 for shipping of 3 photographs within the US. Clearly a scam and I would advise to stay away from this auction house.

This is unethical double dipping and blackmail.
