I have been a customer with Espree MC for many years. I have my social security and company pensions direct deposited there. Over the years I have run into a stupid policy they have. If a merchant makes a mistake and charges your card the money is put on hold. This is normal. But if the merchant corrects it and make the right amount, this is put on hold also. Even if the merchant sends a cancel note immedately. So Espree used to say 7 to 10 days the put the money back, for the wrong tranaction. Now they say 30 days.
I checked in at the airport in Honolulu and was charged $85 for my bags, They corrected that to $50. After a few days I called Espree and was told of the new 30 day policy. Why do they need to keep me from my money for 30 days? What if a merchant adds a zero by mistake? That can and will wipe out all your automatic bill pays for that month. They are keeping us from our money and I wonder if this is even legal. The last time this happened they blamed the merchant. I was on hold for 10 days on $768. Is this legal? I will be leaving Espree as soon as my direct deposits are there for the coming month. It was easy and I just kept dealing with them but no more.
