The purpose of documenting this complaint against Erica Jordan Thomas , alias (GLC or EJT) Consulting is to share my client experience with the public.
Hopefully, this detailed account can help others avoid making the mistake of doing business with this company. Thereby, saving people money and unnecessary humiliation related to being subjected to unethical business practices. Encouraging the development of the knowledge to understand the difference between entrepreneurship and "scam artistry" can be an invaluable life lesson.
Initially, I was impressed by the CEO's documented credential's., which reflect similarities to my own professional achievements and goals. However, it wasn't long before I noticed that the business was focused more on building the CEO's brand and self-esteem than the support of her client-base.
In visiting the company's ambiguous online website, I observed multiple advertisements, which were misleading. As a result i purchased tickets to an in-person conference instead of joining the membership because I was confused by the numerous advertisements, which i shared with the company asking for clarity in several emails to support.
After purchasing the membership, I recognized that the in-person conference was part of the membership. This is when I realized that the unintentional purchase of the ticket had doubled the initial investment into EJT, causing a major financial deficit, made me very uncomfortable to say the least.
When reciprocity from the EJT support network regarding the unintentional purchase, I received a disturbing call from the CEO,EJT herself. However, EJT did not offer a reasonable solution. she offered a condescending attitude and suggestions on how to utilize the additional ticket that I did not want or need.
The EJT membership agreement states a no refund , no cancellation policy that does not specify a timeline or give options to get out of the membership on any terms , which I believe is unethical. In the real word situations can arise ,which leave the client in apposition to receive justified reciprocity. Any CEO with integrity should recognize the need to establish an agreement that is beneficial to the customer and the company. The aim of a business that wants to grow must sustain trusting relationships within the client-base, not adversarial relationships where the client has to defend themselves simply for choosing to do business with EJT.
After careful consideration of the facts related to this matter, we decided to terminate the membership with EJT to avoid future business conflicts over misleading advertising. Now we are facing a legal battle to remove a digital wallet DW attached to our bank account by EJT. The DW creates an ongoing deficit in our LLC account as it continues to take money out of the bank consistently, although we were not happy with EJT's services.
Finally , the bottom line is that when you decide to do business with a company it is based on trust and integrity. That trust is diminished when you recognize that the CEO is unnecessarily greedy and out to make a buck at the expense of her client -base rather than supporting them appropriately. There is nothing more disturbing than a company that states false claims about their core- values being the support of Black people with equity in business. When in fact they are further victimizing Black people with faulty business practices leading to their destruction in business instead.
My Life-Lesson: Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is . If you have a bad experience with any business the most responsible thing you can do is share your experiences publicly. Beware of EJT's misleading advertising tactics that can lead to purchasing services you don't want or need. Thank you.
