A couple of years ago I used Eric's law service when I was charged with a DUI. I blew below the legal limit but since I was illegally arrested, I was forced to submit a urine test for drugs as the police attempted to pin some wrong doing on me. I had to get a lawyer to speak with the judge as they said they could not speak about my case, only a lawyer could.
I hired Eric to represent me in case I ran into trouble with the Judges I encountered. He was over a half hour late to one of my court appearences as I was mocked be a female attorney/court worker who ushered people into the court room, as she bothered me about why my lawyer was late, as if it was my fault. Most likely the lawyers all work together to harass people and stress them out intentionally.
My last day of court came and I paid Eric at the court house before my case. All money was due before court appearences. He supposedly had my documents for my drug test which I did pass and which I was not under the influence the night I was arrested. I know I passed the test since I didn't do drugs. The Judge who I was in front of would not look at me as he signed papers, almost if there was some guilt or wrong doing going on.
After I was released and freed from anymore court apperences and my "false" trial was over, I spoke with Eric out in the hall. He quickly and nervously said something about me not passing the breathalizer (which I did pass when I was first arrested) and hurried the conversation along. I knew I was being shafted by Eric and or the Rock Island court system, though I did not know how to rectify it and was happy to be out of the court with no charges against me.
I looked online and tried to figure out how to get my money back. I guess there is a couple year period where you can file a suit against your lawyer, but unfortunatly some of the comments I read from lawyers kind of dismissed me thinking I could get my money back.
I also see how answering messages about your lawyers performance before the trial is over can be used in the lawyers benefit and make it seem as if he or she is doing a good Job and can cover their a*s when fraud is taking place (which is the legal system itself).
Up until the final decision, I was happy with my interactions, although he was a halfhour late and I was mocked by a courthouse lawyer that worked with the judge and court system.
This being said, my final statenment and conclusion on this report is to state that Eric intentionally obfuscated details in the last court meeting so I would allow him to keep the money, when all he did was intercept my drug test so he could keep my case as his. I did not blow above the Illinois legal limit of .08, and I had no drugs in my system from the urine test. So I lost around 2500 - 3000 USD for minutes of work and for being innocent.`
I do put some of the blame on myself for not filing a complaint or suit, but at the time I was happy to get out of the court house and away from their employees, whose job was to stress people out, even innocent people.
Watch out Quad Cities, Although Eric seems nice, he is quite capable of doing damage to you as his client.
