I get a notice from ERC in the mail saying that I have an unpaid balance with TWC (Time Warner Cable) for $100.00. I had TWC back in 2010 but then switched to another TV and Internet company. As far as I can remember I paid all my bills to TWC and never heard from them about any past dues or unpaid balances. I called ERC and explained to them that in almost seven years I have never had any previous notices from anybody about this unpaid balance. Their response was; 'We are the third collection agency trying to collect this money'. I got really suspicions about the whole situation and told them I did not trust them. I went to check on my Credit Report and found that they have posted on my credit report the unpaid balance. I think this company is all about scamming people for their money, and know that they can intimidate them by reporting negative history that really doesn’t exist.
I received a collection letter saying I owe AT&T $26.12 (reference #146633327). I am completely caught up on my AT&T bill, and the phone number I supposedly "owe" on is one that I had in Indiana 3 years ago (I now live in another state). I can tell you this, AT&T would never have let me start my phone service at my new address without paying that amount IF I really owed it.
I looked this "business" up online and see they have been reported for this problem before. I'll be contacting AT&T tomorrow, as well as the Attorney General's Office, Consumer Affairs, and the FBI. I'm so d***** tired of these scammers!!!!!
I checked out my annual credit report (as I do every year) and found under the "collections" tab that I owed this company money for an account I had with AT&T.
I have NEVER had an account with AT&T in my life. These people are just trying to milk whatever nickle and dime they can from whoever will fall for it.
