After living in an Envoy building for over 2 years, I honestly had no big issues while living there. However once leaving, I asked for a walk-thru to see if anything needed to be done and was told my unit, which I had cleaned very well, was 'impeccable' and was thanked for leaving it so by the building manager.
After over the 21 legal days they have to return it in, I called and then days later had to email asking where my deposit was. I then received part of it back in the mail with a big portion taken out just for 'cleaning.' In reaching out to them stating how that was illegal as nothing was stated to be fixed at my walk-thru and that if returned after the 21-day legal limit, my whole deposit is due back regardless... no one will get back to me.
My only option then is small claims court. How horrible, sad and what bad business. Stealing from renters in LA in whatever few hundred dollars they can for profit shows that this is not a company you want to rent from or be in business with. Do not rent from them and know your rights if you do so they cannot rip everyone off like this!
