ELCPC, AKA Englander and Chicoine law firm located in downtown Boston is by FAR the WORST law firm I have ever come in contact with. I have never seen the lack of ethics as I have at this firm. They were hired to represent me in the 1st business legal matter I had and took FULL ADVANTAGE of that situation by trying to rake me over the coals with legal fees. Edward Englander and Denise Chicoine used unethical tactics on me during my relationship with them. The unethical behavior at ELCPC has no limits or boundaries. The business matter they handled was resolved with 2 in office meetings with opposing counsel and (1) 6 hour session of arbitration. My case was never in the judges hands nor did I ever set foot in court for this matter. The case was settled out of court via agreement between parties. This "supposedly" netted a bill totaling nearly 80k AFTER already paying ELCPC well over (15) fifteen thousand dollars. I did have a couple of small things along the way that required a letter to be sent etc., but nothing of scale and nothing i couldn't have done myself. After my case was settled out of court between parties, I retained ELCPC for an additional case in March of 2015. I sent an additional retainer of $2,500 for the new case of representation. After receving the new retainer money, ED ENGLANDER and DENISE CHICOINE called me on the phone, demanding a nearly 80k payment before they would represent me in the new legal matter. I had upcoming court dates that they (ELCPC) needed to be present at and had agreed to attend as i had already sent new retainer for them to represent me. ELCPC assumed this would be the perfect time to try to demand and suck nearly 80k from me for my old case that was settled. ELCPC thought they could strongarm me into paying them because i had upcoming court dates and when i said no, that amount is incorrect, ED ENGLANDER started to scream at me over the phone, thinking that I will cave and pay it. WRONG! I tried working with ELCPC to address any issues that they had, but they were insistent on me sending a check and they did not want me questioning the charges. THEN I get served with a lawsuit from ELCPC trying to sue me. Mind you, at this time they had taken my new retainer and "applied it to other things." In the case of ELCPC filing suit against me, they continued to use underhanded tactics and not follow local statutes. I had no choice but to file bankruptcy in which i was able to settle an additional matter. ELCPC continues to pursue me to this day, years later. I am completely broke, jobless, and they continue to try and extract money from me via the courtroom. ELCPC is beyond unethical and obviously try to take advantage of folks who have never had legal matters. ELCPC also did not return my files until nearly 2 years after our relationship was severed and tried to use my personal files against me in court. I am reporting them to the BAR. IMO I would stay far away from this firm and its attorneys, you will be glad you did.
