I bought an engine on EBay from Engines-USA that was posted to be completely rebuilt with new machining by EXPERT people and the shipping was free with a FULL "UNLIMITED" 2 YEAR WARRANTY. When the engine arrived it looked good and was simply painted bright silver.
After removing the old engine and installing the new one I called Simon at Engines-USA and told him the core was crated and ready for return. That's when he told me they don't take cores back because California charges them high taxes for returns to their state! He then told me that I would have to pay the core freight charge of $350. The "remaining gaskets" were NOT included and I had to buy them as well. They offered to send $100 for my loss.
When I finished installing the engine and test drove the truck the lower bearings were making a loud, low tone knocking. It sounded louder than a diesel but low tone.
After the first 750 miles, (all oil changed and properly broken in) the coolant was being pushed out of the overflow tank and this is caused by a blown head-gasket or a crack in the head or case. I thought this was a 'new' vehicle so I took it on a road trip and was stranded 600 miles from home. I called Engines-USA for help and that's when they told me the warranty was for parts only and the best that they will do is to send me two head-gaskets...
The engine on this vehicle must be removed to replace them and what if it's a crack? That's when Engines-USA told me the engine was not properly installed!?!? That is laughable.
I realized that I have been defrauded and am pursuing this matter in court, HOWEVER, there is not an address that these jerks can be reached to send them a letter of intent or a summons. Very sneaky business. I will also be contacting Ebay and holding them responsible as an accomplice because Engines-USA continues to do business on EBay after fraudulent notices.
PayPal and my bank have also been notified of the fraud.
The Better Business Bureau has MULTIPLE complaints and all inquiries to Engines-USA have been return address unknown!
Engines-USA is NOT a member of the BBB and is nothing but a scam outfit.
