I had been a customer of EMG for 10 years or more . Paid not only for the monitoring service but also the maintance contract fee, and I always paid the bill before it was due.
Big Mistake.
I was contacted by EMG telling me my system was no longer communicating with their Central Station, so a tech was sent out,and after a few test I was told that the trouble was intermittent and was because of Frontier Communication, but for an additional cost $49.95 and an extra $4.95 a month they will install another device that will use wireless technology to communicate.
When the system was installed they told me this was a wireless system, well it's not. It is wireless in the house, but still needs a phone connection to call out , so it's actually a Hybrid system, it was not a true wireless system as I was told.
I went ahead and faxed them a request to cancel their service and requested the last payment I had just sent be refunded since I had just paid them $99.35 2 weeks before it was due only to be told that the contract says you have to give them 90 days notice to cancel their service.
Now I only cancelled due to the system no longer communicating due to no fault of mine and as far as I'm concerned I was cancelling due to their system was no longer working as it was installed over 5 years ago
I received a ck for $66.24, I feel they screwed me out of $33.00 , so if you are thinking about using EMG's service and you are a Frontier Communications customer be aware that EMG will fix your problem at an additional cost.
