Unfortunate for us, my girlfriend's vehicle was impounded on April 28, 2018 at 10:30 pm, the vehicle was towed and impounded by Elliott's Auto & Truck Sales (or Elliott's Complete Auto Service as titled in Facebook). Of course we did not have a choice as to who was going to tow or impound the vehicle, the Colorado State Patrol makes this decision however they decide to do that.
This company is not a Better Business Bureau member and does not have any accredition that I could find, so at this time I could only assume that it must be some kind of friend that they have with the Colorado State Patrol that has decided that this very unprofessional organization would tow and impound vehicles in Weld County.
Regardless, we call the business early Sunday morning (2:30 am, they are open 24 hours per day, yet they are closed on Sunday... go figure that one out. We were told that they could not let us pick up the vehicle Sunday as they were closed and that the first the vehicle would be available would be Monday during regular business hours. We requested that we not be charged for storage on Sunday as we could have picked up the vehicle that day, but they were closed. Rochelle explained to us that she would note the accoount and see what she could do..
Picking up the car on Monday was impossible as the shop closes at 5:00 pm and they open at 8:00 am. We (my girlfriend and I) are both at work during those hours on Monday. So we knew we would be charged for that day.
When we arrived to Elliott's Towing on Tuesday afternoon we were asked for registration and insurance for the vehicle, that is something that we were not informed about until we arrived to pick up the car. A completely reasonable request; however you would think in speaking with Rochelle previously she might have mentioned that this would need to be provided to pick up the vehicle.
So, after wrestling around to provide the information we were given an invoice for $335.00, this included 4 days of storage from April 28th, 2018 @ 10:30 pm (Saturday) through Tuesday May 1st, 2018 @ 3:30 pm. So... $120.00 in storage for 4 days. I disputed the amount in person and requested that we be refunded for Sunday as we could not pick up the vehicle that day which really made us have to pay for an additional day of storage (Monday April 30, 2018) as we knew we could not pick up that day (work schedules did not allow for this). Regardless of our request, Elliott's did not work with us and held the car hostage until we paid the full bill which we did. Just like any other American family we are lost without transportation.
We were never given a dispute resolution from Elliott's Towing.
Ultimately they stored the vehicle for 2 days, Sat 10:30 pm - Monday 10:30 pm, Monday 10:30 pm - Tuesday 3:30 pm. We have requested a refund of $60.00 to no avail.
In addition to this, we watched as the drivers towed vehicles in and out of the lot and to be candid they seem reckless and do not seem to handle vehicles with care. I noticed that our front bumper had been dislodged from it's original position and had to re-install the bumper. Beware of doing business with this group as they seem to have several negative reviews in their Google Map Listing.
