Elite Singles suggest they are a reputable company and promotes a 6 month subscription, but prior to the renewal they don't alert you to determine if you want to renew. You are not given an option. Once they take your money, even if it is the very next day and you have closed your account and removed your profile from their site, they will not give you the $227 they took. They instead say you are welcomed to use the site 6 more months. They claim they sent me a renewal notice, but the proof they sent showed an incorrect email address. Hence I never received the notification.
In spite of me showing them they did not alert me of the pending renewal, they stilll will not give me my money back. Now I am not on the site, can not get access to the site and they are keeping my $227 like I have that kind of money to give away.
I am very angry and feel a company of this magnitude should not take money from people and refuse to give it back knowing that they are not using their services. I am furious and it just burns me up that they are basically getting away with taking my money. I know I am not the only person this happening too.
This is my second report on Lifemates which is owned by Elite Singles which is owned by Affinitas in Berlin, Germany. I reported earlier this year that Lifemates provided me with only 4 matches in 19 months, the time between matches was 3-7+ months, and none of the matches was at all compatible (e.g., though my first stated compatibility priorities were "active and outdoorsy", my 4th match had a life-thretening heart condition). In addition, the men I met reported that they get called "all the time" but their matches are also usually poor.
I filed a complaint with Small Claims in Calgary in June and on November 14th, went to a mandated mediation at the Calgary Courts Centre. Eite Singles did not show up. I have subsequently proceeded with the next step which is to go to trial. The Court mediator told me to expect a letter in the mail with a "pre-trial meeting" date. Elite Singles will be required to attend this meeting. Then I will get a court date at which a judge will make a decision re my claim for $4033.70 + court costs, interest and damages. Should Elite not show up again, it will be marked on its record that it has defailted twice before trial.
Craig Gleason, COO of Lifemates/ Elite Singles, outright lied in his one paragraph hand-written rebuttal, stating that I was matched by Lifemates 11 times (it was 4), and that I did not provide feedback on every match (I did). I am tall, blonde, fit, attractive, educated and was assured there were compatible matches in the company's database.
