Absolutely under no circumstances use this f**king creep, Michael Hurst III. He will quote you a price to ship your car and take a "deposit" telling you that the balance is due upon arrival of your car. Then the shipper says you have to pay the whole shipping fee. The 200.00 is not applied toward the shipping cost. This goddamn creep is nothing but a f**king piece of shir broker. Has a New York/New Jersey accent and has a Long Island NY phone number. Company is located in Boca Raton FL. He is a f**king liar scam artist. Needs to be put out of business. do not fall for this a*****e's bullshit.
I dealt with someone who says his name is Tom Roberts, Jr. I found Elite through an internet search, looking for a company to transport my car from NY to FL. Tom provided a quote of $598 and asked for a deposit of $197, leaving a balance of $401.
Everything Tom said indicated that Elite was itself transporting the car. He never disclosed that in fact, Elite is a broker, and that the $197 was not a deposit toward the transportation but rather was Elite's separate broker's fee. When the car was delivered to me in Florida, the driver of the trailer truck that hauled my car from NY demanded $700. This was on top of the $197 that I already paid. Since the driver had my car on his truck, I had no choice but to pay the $700. Therefore, I paid a total of $897 for a job that was quoted at $598.
The driver himself was a nice guy who was an independent hauler that had contracted with Elite to haul my car. I had a long, curtious discussion with the driver and he clearly knew nothing about the $598 quoted to me by Elite. He demonstrated to me that the price he quoted to Elite was $700, not $598. This was not a question of "extra charges" for extra weight or something else.
The bottom line is that Elite gave me a low-ball quote to induce me to do business with them and then they ripped me off. When I called Tom Roberts after getting my car and paying the driver, Tom agreed over the phone and in writing to send me $100 in gas cards to resolve my claim. I never received them. Elite's DOT license should be revoked and their owners and others involved in the transport scam should be put in jail.
Same terrible experience with Elite United Auto Transport
I had the identical experience as the other reviewer. These guys are crooks. Plain and simple. I can give the whole story, which is nearly identical to the others I've seen in reviews on other sites. They don't disclose they're brokers. They act like they are the shipper. Initially very nice and request a $200 down payment towards the quoted shipping price. Turns out that the $200 was their broker fee and the actual driver demands a price $100 higher than the price quoted by Elite. Therefore, I ended up paying $300 more than the quoted price. BIG TIME SCAMMERS. They use different names - American Logistics & Transport; American Auto Logistics, Elite United Auto Transport & Logistics LLC; and American Transport Hauling.
